This long (9 minute) documentary tackles the different motivations for playing MMOs. What about you? Can you relate? What’s your limit? Can you definitely say that you are (or aren’t) addicted to playing MMORPGs?
Just a little disclaimer kids – although the title of the documentary is “Level Up”, this is in NO WAY connected to our company.

yeah it’s really not rare to see a player dedicating his 16 hrs of a day just playing his favorite mmorpg.
I remember my own cognitive and physical content, when i played this mmorpg, i spent a FULL 48 hours together with my brother and a few guilmates to up lvl mg character, i haven’t gone to sleep until i successfuly topped the rank, after that, i felt i’ll be sick for the whole year. likewise, i was badly starved and i didn’t get to eat a whole meal, just to keep playing. perhaps im to habituated to it for so many months that i lose my sight to my goals in life, bad for me that my weight drop and i flunked my schooling.
even my everyday attitude change. it became more animated and more game-oriented. i buy things in connection with the games im playing, i deliver words in conjunction with the game dialogues, i act in simillarity with the characters and a lot more.
this is the way how those cool mmorpg upshot my entire year, but somehow i discerned a lot of things, things that we cannot get wind of by just real experience. so it is not a surprised that this online games do really affect our behavior, our personality our well being our everything because it really does. yeah, it directly hits us and this impact greatly shows. Tell me whose person is not affected by it if he is a really an addicted mmorpg player. None i think so. So in this not so distant future, im pretty much sure that this phenomena will progress rapidly
I haven’t played any MMOs (still on dial-up), but I do have an interest, as a psych researcher, in studying them.
It’s pretty much the same what the professional therapists would say regarding addiction.
Although, no one knows for sure what percentage of players are clinically addicted. But, we can’t ignore the numerous stories and the available data.
IMO, how you handle your social aspect of the game may determine how you see the MMO as a game or work or even life.
