Throughout the years, we’ve come to admire the female characters in video games. One of my fondest memories of course was rescuing a certain “Princess Peach” from the evil clutches of King Koopa while I took on the role of an Italian plumber with his cousin Luigi.
Soon after, scores of games would feature memorable heroines which would later become definitive icons in this digital age.
After giving it much forethought, I decided to just list down the gmtristan.com “Top 5 most influential female video game characters”

Countdown begins when you hit jump!

5. Ada Wong – When I first saw Ada Wong in Resident Evil, I was in awe. This sexy American of Chinese decent was mysterious and intriguing. Very little was revealed about her origins, which made her character more appealing. Oh, did I mention that stiletto heels and powerful guns are the perfect match?

4. Nina Williams – Tekken, to me, is THE fighting game. I grew up with it. Although Street Fighter and the other Capcom versus games come a close second, there is something in Tekken that makes guys like me love it. Not that DOA offered bouncing boobies, the characters in Tekken had their own stories and goals. One of which is of course Nina Williams. Combine graceful and lightning quick reflexes with tight, body-fit clothes and you got yourself a winner babe!

3. Blood Rayne – Although the movie sucked, the game was rock solid. Rayne is a solid character with her very own personality. The twin blades added a strong element to the character and her violent killing methods made her unforgettable. BloodRayne was perhaps one of the first games to literally take blood and gore to the next level. But Rayne, being half-vampire, still has some good left in her.

2. Rinoa – Who could ever forget that sweet smile, that unblemished face and the perfect hair? Rinoa is the epitome of that perfect girl that we all had a “crush” on. All you ever wanted in a good female game character. Plus, Rinoa came in an age where CG was taken to the next level with Final Fantasy 8, of course. The rest, they say, is history.

1. Lara Croft – this is a no-brainer. Lara is perhaps the most popular female video game character in the world. The movie, starring one my fave babes Angelina Jolie, wasn’t so bad either – perhaps just one of the very few games-to-films which didn’t flop. There’s something sexy in a girl with British accent too. Yummy!
