Tools for the Online Gamer
Online games and MMORPGs are a serious hobby.
If you want to be competitive or at the very least, organized, there are some tools and applications available from the web. Most of these tools will help you optimize your build, find the best sites to farm, etc.
I’m not talking about 3rd party programs, cheats, bots or hacks here, okay? Let’s just put things in perspective first, before I move on.

What I am going to show you are some of the ways which can take the hassle from your games and let you concentrate on having fun. A lot of these tools are available on the web for free.
Let’s examine the tools now. Go click the link below to go to the next page.
GM Tristan’s Online Gaming Tools
- Stat Calculator - this one of the most important of them all. You don’t want to waste valuable time grinding and suddenly finding out that your build sucks. Just “google” it and you’ll find a few calculators that will do the job for you. Calculators will also save you the trouble and tell you if the gear you are wishing for (or buying soon) will fit your goal. Ask around too from the community for the best online calculators.
- Download Manager - Applications such as getright will save you lots of valuable time when downloading patches or client installers directly. For torrent downloads, I use Azureus.
- Online Wiki - if your game has it, take advantage of it. There, you may also find interactive maps to direct you to areas for optimized leveling up or farming.
- Maps - Again, Google here is your best friend. Try to find a world map of your area. You can print it if you want so you won’t get lost. Walking or running about aimlessly sucks big time.
- Photo Manager - Sooner than later, you will be trying to locate an important screenshot inside your PC. If you didn’t organize your screenies, you’re bound to be frustrated. Try to get a good photo organizing app to do the job for you. I recommend Picassa.
- Password Generator - in my tips on online account security, I mentioned that regular password changing is a must to protect your account. If you’re stuck for passwords, here’s an online application that can help.
- Online Storage - you’re likely to ramp up gigs of info, pictures, and documents during the course of your gaming. In case your PC buys the farm, it’s good to back the stuff up online. Xdrive is my reco for this. 5GB free is nothing to balk at.
- Information - the fact that you’re reading this is a good start. The fact that you visit gmtristan.com regularly is even better (*wink). But take it to the next level and subscribe to my RSS feed via e-mail to be informed of the latest information about your favorite online games and MMORPGs. It won’t take more than a minute of your time to do so.
Hope this helps!

hmm you forgot Xfire GM T
Although it’s mainly used to track how often you play your game, it has an in-game chat feature for headset users. Not very useful for some but definitely a must when directing PVP conflicts.
Ventrilo and TeamSpeak are also great programs to use to coordinate your guild while playing in-game and is great with PvP. Used both for Guild Wars PvP and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes PvP.
nice info especially the online storage my hard drives are prone to crash(can’t be opened)
Great tools don’t replace brains in the same way wearing the newest hi-tech basketball shoes don’t make you Michael Jordan (did I just show my age?
).
BTW, will someone please update the RO map in the official website. It’s stuck in Amatsu/Kunlun episode.
