In an old post, I hinted that EA will announce something about their new game, The Sims 3.

Now, the official Sims 3 website is out and the screens and the announced game features look promising. Taking advantage of graphics and “sims” tech, this game promises more fun and more control over your favorite sims.

Some of the new improvements include unique personalities for your Sims where you can “Select from dozens of personality traits and combine them in fun ways. The combination of traits you choose – brave, artistic, loner, perfectionist, klepto, romantic, clumsy, paranoid, and much, much more – help shape the behavior of your Sims and how they interact with other Sims.”

Here are more new features

• Seamless Neighborhoods - Now your Sims can explore the environment freely. They can visit friend’s house, go shopping or just explore
• Customization - with the new customization tools, you can have more flexibility in creating and personalizing your Sims with facial hair, exact skin tone, color and of course, clothes and accessories
•  Personalities – I already touched on how you can make diverse and unique individuals. Sweet!
•  Customize EVERYTHING – EA wrote that you can now “Build your dream house or design the ultimate home. Customize everything from floors to flowers, shirts to sofas, wallpaper to window shades. It’s fun and easy to change colors and patterns giving you endless personalization options. Or you can populate your Sims’ neighborhood with pre-designed buildings and furnishings.”

The game will be available 2009. I can’t wait.

My wife is a definite Sims addict and maybe this is a darn good reason that she’ll agree we get a new computer with an 8800 video card.
