Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors. Some of my friends, staff and players have reported that they heard stuff like; “Level Up is nearing bankruptcy” and “Ragnarok will close and so will RF”.
Maybe it’s cut-throat tactics to spread rumors about us. But let me clarify, once and for all – for the benefit of those who heard these kinds of rumors.
1. Level Up - Like what I always say in the forums or in response to the comments here, Level Up is a business. And like ALL businesses, one of the goals is to earn. Otherwise, why put up the business in the first place? If it were just a game, maybe some frustated GM can just ban accounts and delete anyone just because he wants to. Fortunately, it’s not like that.
I am not in a position to reveal our financial position. But trust that we are now a subsidiary of ePLDT and we have good financial and technical backing with the likes of MyDSL, Smart and other partners.
There are a lot of exciting projects in the works. A lot of which you will hear about firsthand in this blog.
We are trying our best to make sure that our games get good numbers so that we get good revenue. However, there is NO MAGICAL formula for it. A lot of factors, both internal and external, are critical to success.
2. The Games - As I go into the juicy details, some people are saying that
- RF will soon close. Why? They made it free to play… just like ROSE.
- Then Ragnarok will also close. Look! Valkyrie is also Free-To-Play… it will suffer the same fate as ROSE.
Well, sorry to rain on the parade of the rumor-mongers. Here’s some quick bites and explanations:
- RF will NOT close. The reason that we are going free-to-play is because the developers (CCR) wants all RF countries to follow this kind of business model. Nuff said.
- And Ragnarok will not close… not anytime soon. We are trying to give better service to our players by offering a new server with a different take on Ragna. It really is RO like you never saw it before.
Anyways, that’s the short and sweet end of it. Gotta run!
Valkyrie launches bukas okies?
