Yahoo To Close MyBlogLog On May 24, 2011

When Yahoo acquired MyBlogLog I think a year ago, I thought that changes to the service would make it better. Yahoo acquired MyBlogLog in the interest of giving bloggers a solution to keep track of their community and to share common interests. I have been using MyBlogLog since the early days (2007) when I started blogging.

It offered visitors to your blog a chance to be included in that “box-with-a-lot-of-heads”.

Yahoo Gives In? Offers Sign In Via Facebook and Google

What a pleasant surprise when I opened my Yahoo Mail a couple of days ago.

It seems that Yahoo has finally seen the value of multiple sign ins and has offered “connect” options via Facebook and Google. Glad to see that the Internet giants have finally seen it this way. It won’t be long that other services follow suit. I remember talking about this as a ‘trend’ in previous posts.

Cheers!

[ technology ] Yahoo Live: A Youtube Killer?

When youtube combined videos and the Internet and elevated it to Web 2.0, it made waves. Now, another player is preparing to surf those waves and hopes it won’t wipeout.

Now what the $*#&@ is Y! Live?

In a nutshell, it’s youtube on overdose – it allows you to make streaming, LIVE video channels and cater to your viewers or fans. Here’s what the folks at the Y! Live official blog have to say about this new service “How is Y! Live different from other online video sites? That’s simple: it’s live. What you’re watching, right now, is what other people are watching, right now. We wanted to create an experience that takes us back to live television, where things are happening now, in real time.” said Michael Quoc, Yahoo Director for Advanced Products.

[ technology ] Microsoft to buy Yahoo for S44.6 Billion?

In what appears to be an apparent move to shake off the “world’s number one brand”, Google, off its pedestal, Microsoft has just made a whopping $44.6 Billion offer to Yahoo.

Engadget, in its breaking news story, wrote that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that, “We have great respect for Yahoo!, and together we can offer an increasingly exciting set of solutions for consumers, publishers and advertisers while becoming better positioned to compete in the online services market.”

Balmer also adds; “Today, the market is increasingly dominated by one player who is consolidating its dominance through acquisition. Together, Microsoft and Yahoo! can offer a credible alternative for consumers, advertisers, and publishers.”

Isn’t it obvious who that “player” is? Cough-cough.
