Create Your Own Daily Web Newspaper

Here’s a new, cool and interesting way to read the people you follow on Twitter.

>>> Create your own daily newspaper with paper.li as an example, here’s mine, The GM Tristan Daily

There are many cool features of this service. First, you get to see the top items of your Twitter feed formatted, newspaper-style. They’re also categorized. Media such as videos and photos are also grouped together for easy access. You can also choose how frequent to update it and it “self-promotes” the page via your Twitter. Is that awesome or what?!?

Hit that freakin’ blue SHARE button below dude! Thanks!

Facebook is now in Tagalog

Whoa!

Pinoys really are into SNS (Social Networking Site). With Friendster as the top SNS in the country with over 10 million Filipinos registered, Facebook is fast catching up to this Friendster-dominated country.

What better way to do mano y mano than offer the entire Facebook experience in tagalog. I got a pleasant surprise when I logged into Facebook recently. Do check it out and errrr… pass it on to your friends… in whatever social site they are.

JC and Codamon on SNS

Recently, our New Media team headed by JC Medina, New Media Director and our Editor-in-Chief, the one and only “Lord of the Blogs”, Kevin Codamon participated in the Philippine SNS conference held at the Hotel Intercon, Makati.

Our New Media team is responsible for all the advergaming that you see inside the game, Coke, Nestle, Jollibee and many more have been our partners. They’ve been hard at work to get more partners and introduce to traditional “brick-and-mortar” companies the value of online communities.

Meanwhile, reporter Alex Villafania of Inquirer interviewed the two head honchos to find out more about their take on SNS and of course, UGC (user generated content) and how it fits into gaming and our communities.

The video interview link after the jump.

[ technology ] MySpaceTV. Watch out Youtube!

Here’s another exciting reason and proof that Web 2.0 is shaping how we interact and connect.

Just recently, myspace launched myspacetv.com, its youtube inspired clone. Myspacetv is currently in beta. Here, myspacers can upload and share their videos to their network and to the world. Youtube, better watch out!

PC World also reviewed the service, saying that the service is “Most appealing to those seeking video uploads to their MySpace blog/profile without the need for other sites. Non-MySpacers are best served elsewhere, though.”.

Meanwhile, check out a myspacetv stupid/funny video about an accident involving a Nintendo Wii.

Hasta La Vista,

Online Games and Social Networks

As part of the online gaming industry, my team and I are constantly trying to solve an elusive mystery – should online game developers (or publishers) create their own social networks? Or should they just play with the big boys, Friendster, Orkut, Myspace, Multiply and Facebook (to name a few)?

According to Matt Slagle, who wrote a piece on USA Today, “Social and gaming networks, once considered polar opposites, are cross-pollenating as online interactions replace prime-time TV and other, more traditional media experiences”.

It is for this very reason that I think there is synergy between these two mediums and that we in the gaming industry should learn to foster good ties with social networks.
