As you may all know, today, March 24, is the official opening of the Rohan Open Beta.

As promised, there will be no more wipe of characters from hereon. Also, the OBT will simultaneously open with the Rohan Item Mall. The Rohan Item Mall is web-based and is not found inside the game. Credits used in the mall are called ROHAN POINTS. 1 PHP is equal to 10 Rohan Points or RPs.

We’ve published a comprehensive Item Mall guide for everyone. Be sure to read up as that document guides you through all the steps in making a purchase… from scratching the card, converting to RP and eventually making the purchase.

Great news!

The price of gas and other commodities here in our country continue to rise. But we here at Level Up are doing the opposite. We’ve slashed a lot off our Karts. What used to be P350.00 for a single kart will now only cost around P200.00. Most of the karts in CK are now priced at a reasonable P50 to P100.

We listen to you guys, hence the changes. Also, more importantly, we’ve managed to change and fix the durability rates. I’ll post the complete details in a separate story. Suffice it to say that repairing the karts is now easier than before.

Even if the game is Free-to-Play, you need money to sustain your online gaming. If you play at an Internet Cafe, you will spend on hourly rentals – this is usually P20 per hour here in the Philippines.

Don’t forget your essentials like food, drinks and transportation and you’ll only be limited by your daily budget.

This article will show you how to stretch your gaming budget and make your money work for you thereby giving you more bang for the buck

Let’s look deeper into a typical gamer’s spending:

• 3 hours per day at a cafe = P60.00
• Food = P50.00
• Transpo = P30.00

That’s P140 per day or a total of P700 in a 5-day week.

If you have a P1,000.00 per week allowance of budget, this will leave you with only P300 for other non-gaming expenses.

How do we stretch this budget?

Ironic as it may seem, investing in a game’s ITEM MALL will save you money in the long run.

Why?

Let’s say you’re targetting to level up this week and you’ve figured that it will take you around 30 hours to do so. Using the above budget, that will gross you P1,400 in total expenses. But if you can half the time by buying XP items, you will only spend P700 plus around P100 to P200 for the items you buy to help you gain that level.

In total, you save P500.00 net! Not bad for a small investment, right? Many games have special XP items and other consumables to help you with your leveling. In RF Online, for example, there’s also the Premium Subscription which will give you more mods. This means that you gain levels in lesser time.

Now that Perfect World is in open beta, a lot of new players are asking how they can buy stuff in the item mall. Also, a lot of old players have raised some issues about the prices in the current mall. GM Justice (Community Manager for PW) and myself have talked with a group of players a few days after the launch of the Open Beta to get feedback on the pricing.

The discussions were good. I got an idea on how much a player spends per day and per week and what type of items are likely to be bought. Also, they told me the prices that they think are “reasonable” for items such as Amulets and Heiros within the game.

The team is now working and coordinating with Wanmei/Beijing so that the prices will be adjusted. Don’t worry, we hear yah! And we want to make your Perfect World experience well, er, Perfect.

Second, here are the steps on how to buy:

1. Buy either a Level Up Card or Netgames card (NOTE: Both are interchangeable now)
2. Log on your MyLevelUp account
3. Scratch the card and load it your Perfect World account (within your MyLU)
4. Run PW. Go inside the game and press “O” or “Alt + O” to open the item mall
5. Begin buying

As soon as updates about the new pricing will crop up, I’ll make sure that you guys know.
