Visita Iglesia Online

The longest holiday here in the Philippines is upon us. During Maundy Thursday, we Catholics observe the tradition of “Visita Iglesia” where we visit 7 (some visit up to 14) churches.

Now with very high gasoline prices, humidity and the summer heat, this may task is not fit for everybody. Good thing, the Catholic Church (CBCP) launched VisitaIglesia.Net where you can do your Visita Iglesia online right in the comfort of your couch. Yeah, this is endorsed!

Maybe because of Chrome’s attack on the browser wars, Internet Explorer and Firefox released new versions to take back the battles and reclaim lost turf, yes? Well, here’s a guest post by Tom Owens to explain the pros and cons of either browser.

Infotech: LastPass, the ONLY Password You Will Ever Need

Hi there folks!

So sorry. Was out of commission due to severe flu and colds the past couple of days. Was only back at work yesterday. Suffice it to say that I’ve been offline for most of that time, recuperating and regaining my strength. Now that I’m back, allow me to share another Infotech tip.

Here’s LastPass, a cool application that will allow you organize ALL your online passwords and accounts with a single click. Oh btw, I DO RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THIS ONLY IN YOUR PRIVATE SECURE PC. Don’t use this in a public place such as an Internet Cafe, ok.

Details? Yes… hit the jump below…

The Last Advertising Agency On Earth

Thanks to colleague and fellow marketer, Jeff Paulino for sharing this great video on his Facebook page.

As a professional marketer, this video really opened up some doors for me, which I’d like to also share to my fellow marketing practitioners. The lessons learned from this video can mean the difference between an awesome campaign (which directly translates to measured results) and a mediocre one.

First, watch the video and then hit jump below for some of my personal notes.

Taking Your Blog or Website to the Next Level

Blogging is a great way to grow a business, promote your brand or product or share relevant news and information about your hobby. A lot of people blog for other reasons. I personally know some who actually do this for money. For me, don’t think about the money yet. If you dedicate enough time to your blog, slowly create original content, the money will come naturally.

After you’ve used free blog platforms such as Blogger or WordPress (which are hosted on their own sites) and have grown your user base a bit, you might consider investing in your own domain and finding the best web hosting for your new site.

Now, is a historical moment in human history – 20% of the entire digital spam on the planet Earth (around 40 BILLION messages a day) can be traced to one man. His name is Igor Gusev.

And yes, thank goodness, the Russian authorities have caught up with him good. Recently, Russian police have raided Mr. Igor Gusev’s apartment. Gusev, 31, owns a site called SpamIt.com.

How To Check If Your Blog Is Working

Sometimes, you’ll get a lot of errors when you check your own blog. Your DNS might be screwed up, the ISP failed, your browser has issues, or your webhost may have some problems. When this happens to me, I call my host ASAP. Good thing I have a great host that always responds fast and fixes things when I need ‘em.

You can either YM a friend and ask him (or her) to check if your URL fires up on his PC. But there’s a quicker solution to this problem.

What If We Didn’t Have Internet

These past couple of days, I was fiddling around with the configuration settings of my new WiFi router and the broadband modem at home. Since they were assigned the same IPs by default, I had to find ways to make them work. Grrrr!

Calling the customer service and 5 technician house calls couldn’t solve the problem… but geeks at various pinoy forums and sites such as www.pinoydsl.net did the job.

Meanwhile, this led me to think… what would happen if WE DID NOT have the convenience of the web. The first picture above painted a thousand words, so to speak… jump to see more
