In Progress: Gundam Zeta Plus

It’s been some time since I actually got back to assembling and painting a Gundam. Got caught up with around 6 weeks or so for the Tieren Diorama.

The last real Gundam I did was the Regen Duel, and that was around November of last year. Time to go back to the basics and do a new Gundam project. For this one, I selected the Gundam Zeta Plus. It’s a relatively old model (2007 release) but I actually like the mech’s ability to transform. For a future build, a space-type diorama could also be an exciting proposition.

And what better time for some great modeling/hobby than Holy Week, right?

Gundam Tieren Diorama Part 3 (Final Stages)

I suggest you check out Part 1 and Part 2 of this project before you go further. I already pre-built the Tieren for this project.

Anyways, just a short recap from the previous post. I was finished with doing the battle-damage for the fallen Gundam and so far, I’m quite satisfied with the “aging” and the results. I also finished the base of the diorama using a wood base, Styrofor and Plaster of Paris. After initial layers of cheapo acyrlic via hand-brush, it’s now time to glue and set the “turf” (grass and the terrain) and then paint it for the final effect.

Let’s start…

In Progress: Gundam Tieren Diorama

To raise the bar on my model kit (modeling) hobby skillz, I’ve decided to make my first diorama. The protagonist for this piece is my Tieren Ground Type which I completed October of last year. I’m sure it will look better in a nicely detailed diorama.

For the diorama, I’m envisioning a battle-torn, slightly elevated hill. On the foreground is a wrecked Gundam, torn into pieces via missle, laser and melee attacks…. while the Tieren troops and mecha close in to investigate.

In Progress: Gundam Regen Duel

Hoooza!  A nice long weekend! After the Sazabi, I bought two gundam kits. Both were new releases and from the Seed series. I already finished assembling and painting the first one, the Gale Strike. Now, I’m starting on the next project, the Regen Duel.

I still have to catch up on blog posts for the kits. My last one was the Tieren. Anyways, check out more photos of the in-progress build report for my Duel.

Gundam Tieren Ground Type Part 2

During the last post of my work-in-progress build report for the Gundam Tieren, I showed you how I assembled the model kit and did the initial coat of paint.

Now, it’s time to go through how I did the decals, followed by the wash and (my favorite part) doing battle damage, paint chips, rust and over-all weathering to give it that “battle scarred veteran look”

On to the photos…

Gundam Tieren Ground Type Part 1

I really had fun building the M1A1 Abrams modern battle tank. There were lessons there that I was excited to put into my next project. Techniques such as pre-shading and battle-damage were among the experiments that proved to be successful. I was hoping to apply those (and maybe improve upon it) on my next Gundam build.

After endless searching I finally found the perfect model (in Greenhills), an HG Gundam Tieren Ground Type mobile suit. This is the perfect mix of “ruggedness”, the Tieren doesn’t look like the average Gundam and I was pretty much excited to tackle it head on.

Dirtiest Gundam Ever

Good friend, Rohan Brand Manager and fellow plamo enthusiast Keith “Daemonfrost” Morales and lovely “kumander” (wife) Meng are moving in to a new condo (which is nearer to the Level Up office).

Whilst prepping for the move, he brought his collection of Gundams to the office… and boy, were they filthy! A thick layer of dust gathered on these fine mecha. Whew! Made me sneeze just thinking about it.

I thought I’d share with you some of the pics. C’mon Keith, clean ‘em up! Cheers!

China Blitz Gundam 1/100

This is my 4th Gundam model kit for this year, and my second “China” model. Since these kits cost below P300 each, they’re good for practice and experimenting with the different techniques I either learned throughout the months I’ve been back in modeling or those gleaned from research over the web.

Check out the work-in-progress (WIP) photos after the break.

MS-06J Zaku II MG Gundam Project

This is now my 3rd Gundam model kit project, after the first China one and the MG Destiny.

Anyways, I’d like to take you through the progress and build process of how I assembled and painted this kit. I got this Zaku from FS Brand Manager Hector Sagrado who’s also a Gundam model kit builder (and toy addict) and displays some of the kits he’s done at his blog

Meanwhile, let’s begin with the in-progress photo essay…

Gundam Destiny MG 1/100 Step-By-Step

I used to build Gundam kits some years back. Now, I’m taking up this new hobby – model kit making.

Here’s one of my first projects – the MG Destiny 1/100 kit from Bandai. I’d like to share with you the progress of the project with photos.

Details after the jump.
