Girls of Gstar 2008 Part 2

Here’s part 2 of my Girls of GStar 2008 (Booth Babes) coverage.

Gstar is Korea’s annual online game expo. There are scores of big-time developers such as Nexon, JCE, NCsoft, CJ Internet and Hanngame with HUGE exhibit booths. Here they display their latest games and achievements. Of course, the main attraction whenever there are big gaming events are the booth babes.

Why don’t you relax and view the babes? Coming up… (more…)

Girls of Gstar 2008 Part 1

As promised, here are photos of booth babes from the Gstar 2008 event here in Seoul, Korea.

I had a lot of meetings and activities and only managed to photograph a few of the babes. But don’t worry, I’ll get more on day 2 hopefully.

Enough about me, on to the babes…

Korea Day 2

Gstar won’t start until tomorow, but today I attended the 2nd FlyFF Global Workshop, a gathering of different publishers of FlyFF from all across the globe. I’d like to thank our partners from Aeonsoft and Gala for making this annual event possible and for inviting Level Up. Also, I learned a lot and gained some insights on how to manage and market the game as other publishers also shared their expertise… keen on going back and sharing these with the FlyFF team.

Meanwhile, I thought I was dreaming but I downloaded a 106MB file in 56 seconds a couple of minutes ago (here at the hotel room)! Wow! Lupet!

More after the break.

Korea Day 1

I arrived here in Seoul a little bit after 5pm via Asiana airlines. Quite a turbulent ride. Weather here is $#*(@&^$%(* cold! Around 7 degrees C. Good thing I came prepared and brought winter stuff.

Anyways, this is day 1 of my almost 1 week business trip here to Seoul. As per my previous post, I’m here to attend the GStar Event (online games expo) and have meetings with our developers and members of the industry. Of course, photos of the booth babes are part of my to-do list, so don’t fret.

Going to Korea

Today, I’m off to Korea together with other Level Up executives to attend Gstar, the annual online game show and convention. It’s not all about “pleasure”, there’s some “business” too as I get in touch and align with our current developers, meet old friends and maybe even get to sample out the newest and coolest online games in the market… some of which may possibly be released here for all of you guys to enjoy.

Of course, let’s not forget the booth babes, some of which I already showed you last year.

GStar 2007 Korea Wrap Up

GStar 2007 is over. It was one heck of an experience. There were hundreds of games and scores of new developers and new friends met.

I had the opportunity to look at the Korean gaming scene and do “snack experiments” on the side. It was so much fun. Despite the traveling and few hours trip, I would say that the trip was worth it. Of course, the booth babes were also unforgettable.

Level Up Philippines COO Pet Syling and I managed to talk to our current developers to learn of their plans for 2008 and beyond. Although I can’t tell you the details yet, a lot of things look promising for our titles like Ragnarok, RF Online, FlyFF, SilkRoad Online and even FreeStyle.

I was also lucky enough to sit down with new developers who pitched in their products and services. There are a lot of good potential opportunities here.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to MJ, our sweet and wonderful interpreter for the 2 days that we were at GStar. Here she is with me below. Gamsa Hamnida!

MJ made our work much easier. She speaks very good english and we had a nice chat. Promised her we’d stay in touch.

GStar 2007 Korea Cosplay

Alright, there wasn’t any real cosplay parade at the GStar Event. I already covered the booth babes in a separate post.

Most of what “cosplay” is in the event are really hired models wearing the characters for the games that they are modeling for. You can find most of the photos of the girls in my past post.

Basically, there’s a little stage where the models just pose for news cameras, cameramen and of course, for attendees. I may have to use that idea for local events coming up soon.

Anyways, you’ll find a video of the girls in cosplay after the jump…

The Korean Gaming Scene

Just arrived at Manila via PAL. Flight was okay, around 4 hours. I did not sleep last night since the limousine bus from the COEX hotel leaves at 5:10am. The Incheon international airport is far… like from Manila to Bulacan. So it takes around an hour and a half to get there.

Anyways, was both tired yet happy to get back to the nuances and bustle of Metro Manila. Korea is like a big “Rockwell” or “Glorietta”, you can really how rich their country is. Each cab has a GPS system, wi-fi is everywhere, broadband is faster than anything I ever experienced (how about downloading torrent movies in a couple of hours rather than an entire day?)

Which brings me to how diverse the Korean gaming scene is. There are literally thousands of games competing to grab the attention of the most-connected and game-a-holic population in the world. Name a theme, and no matter how absurd, there’s a game built around it. I saw games evolving around worms, bubbles, robots, planes, etc… basically anything under the sun.

Both big and small industry players compete for attention, hence the massive booths in GStar. GStar was also an avenue for the giants to announce some of their games. While the small players try to emulate some of the successful titles.

The Girls of GStar 2007 Korea

Korea’s so dang cold nowadays but the girls here are sizzling hot!

Part of my business trip here is to attend the G-Star Expo, a gathering of game business VIPs from all across the world to share information, launch products and scout for new titles and opportunities.

Too bad the wireless Internet connection at the hotel wasn’t working since last night. I checked out of COEX Intercon and transferred here to Lotte hotel as per the instructions of the organizing committee. My apologies for not posting anything yesterday, but do not fret, I will make it up to you.

I spent a good portion of my day yesterday listening to developers pitch in their new products and games while I squeezed in a couple of meetings with our current developers in-between. I did this over coffee and snacks.

Am pretty sure you don’t want to hear more of my personal schedule and want me to get on with the girls, right?

Your wish is my command.

More photos on a slide show after the jump.

GStar Korea 2007 Photo Essay

Here’s a quick and dirty photo essay of my Day 1 activities at the GStar gaming summit. Okay, I have to admit – part of my trip here to Korea is to attend this HUGE gaming event and business expo. Someone’s gotta do it, right? *wink*

November 8, 2007 – slept only around 5 hours the night before. Some of our Korean friends took us out for dinner and some drinks. Woke up to the chilling cold weather and took the 1 hour bus-limousine service to Kintex, the venue for G-Star 2007. Kintex is very near Incheon, the airport. Level Up Philippines COO Pet Syling and myself tried to catch up on sleep at the bus but this loud-mouth American behind us wouldn’t stop talking. Sigh.

Got at Kintex around 10am and immediately went inside to register. Kintex is a HUGE expo and event area. It makes our World Trade Center look like a two-car garage in comparison. The place is high-tech. Free wi-fi everywhere. Scores of coffee and snack shops and a dozen conference and meeting places, sweet!

Check out my PHOTO ESSAY after one more click.
