Best Posts For April

April is gone!

‘Twas a great month. With the long Holy Week break included, most people (myself included) deserved that break from all the frenetic activities of work and other projects.

Here’s a short guide on the best posts and articles for April 2011. Have fun!

Finally Broke 9K Fans at Facebook

After months of hard work and fun, I finally broke the 9K fan mark at my Facebook Page.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans, readers and daily visitors. Thanks for the support and for being regulars and active at the blog and at the Fanpage. The community is having fun with the regular TAY sessions.

Finally, thanks to my active mods too. I couldn’t have done it without your help. 10K seems just around the corner. If you’re still not a fan, be one now

Talk Among Yourselves At The Facebook Page

Just to get things brewing at the gmtristan.com Facebook page, I started the Talk Among Yourselves sessions, better known as T.A.Y. It’s simple. I post a topic and people can just TAY by leaving a comment or two.

So far, the insights and exchanges have been good (and fun). Some of the topics included Jejemons, Chessy pick-up lines and more.

It really is interesting to see the many facets of ideas and great to interact with the growing community (as I write this, we’re now close to 9K fans). Thanks to everyone who “liked” the page and continue to be active. Of course, helping me out are my official mods… life is so much simpler with these guys. My million thanks goes out to them as well.

In Progress: Original Mecha Kit Bash

Photobucket
Me and the weekend modeling warriors always wanted to do a Mech mod. The next best thing from a scratch-build is a kit bash… getting parts from toys, surplus kit parts and what-have-you to build something original. In this exercise, the imagination (and yes, budget too) is the only limit.

For this build, the base figure was a 1/60 Mechwarrior Destroid Tomahawk toy lovingly donated by Cho Caruncho from his office desk. We also went around the office and asked for old toys, scrap plastic, etc to come up with our spares bin. The guys also brought their model kit spares to the house to come up with a common resource from which to build this monstrous mech…

New Facebook Contest

Hi folks!

Am giving away my limited edition SC2 Dog Tag (which I got for free for pre-ordering). Since there were a LOT of friends (and fans) requesting for it, I had no choice but to give a fair chance to everyone to win it randomly.

Gamer Babe: Pam

It’s been awhile since I last posted new entries for Gamer Babe. I’ve been rather busy lately and didn’t have much time to scout around for the perfect candidates. But I think the search is over.

This month’s feature is Pam, one of my officemates. She’s with the New Media department. Pam’s always bright, cheerful and has been my diligent “Padawan” when it comes to “pang-aalaska”. Anyways, I always like being around Pam, she always has great ideas and I can confide with her whenever I have to rant about stuff.

Pam’s one those loyal LU peeps who’ve been with us through thick and thin. Let’s head over to the interview, shall we?

More about Pam after one more click…

Gaming is Evil?

When I was in Bacolod last weekend, I made talks to around a couple of thousands college kids.

One of my slides had the picture below. This image is often what parents and teachers see about gaming. My job was to prove to them that  this was all a MISCONCEPTION.

Misconceptions occur when people are fed wrong or inadequate information. For example, we often judge food which is presented to us by our eyes first. But only when our other senses confirm – like our taste and smell, that it is indeed delicous, can we make final judgement on it.

More when you make the jump…

My Favorite GM Tristan Posts

I’ve been blogging now for more than 6 months. Honestly, it really IS hard work. But it’s something that I enjoy doing and something that’s fun. During that time, there have been some great posts and of course, some lame ones.

I try to keep up with the “niche” so to speak. In this case, it’s the online gaming industry (with focus on the Philippines). So everyday, the typical routine is for me to go browse other gaming blogs, gaming sites, check out Digg, read my feeds through google reader and then plot out what to write during the day.

Sometimes, an idea forms… a bulb turns on and I start putting my thoughts on the PC screen and come up with content without much forethought.

Here’s a collection of my favorite posts from the past. These are both from my old site at blogger and then the new ones from here.
