Ok, I have to admit, I was home sick when I wrote this. Frankly, had minor “writer’s block” and couldn’t think of a blog topic to write about. So I chose to do think about the weirdest subject and how to integrate it to the blog.

With a little help from my best friend, Google, I googled Justin Bieber and Video Games and came up with a surprising discovery – there a LOT of flash and online games about JB. OMG! Now there’s a cool blog topic.

Onwards to Justin Bieber games….

1. Justin Bieber Hair Defense

This one is a Tower-style defense. Don’t let the enemy get to JB and ruin his hair. There are a lot of options and choices on your towers. Pretty fun. haha!

2. Justin Bieber in Concert

The most common form (with many variations) of Justin Bieber games is the “dress up” genre. Choose your teen idol and experiment with a lot of clothes, wigs, accessories and more. Targeted for young girls, of course. This one, Justin Bieber in Concert, is a typical example of that.

3. Justin Bieber Magazine

Another typical doll-dress-me game… in magazine style. ’nuff said.

4. Kiss Justin Bieber

The premise for this game is rather original. Sneak kisses with JB’s date while fishing on board his yatch. Watch out for the paparazzi. LOL!

I’ve been getting a lot of questions and complaints about game downloads not working, being corrupted or failing to install.

So I decided to write a short and sweet article about how to download games properly. First off, before you comment on the other download articles and posts, be sure to check out our single source for all LEVEL UP GAMES DOWNLOADS. Some of the links in the old posts may already be dead or have been updated with a newer patch or version.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD LIKE A PRO (Don’t be a N00b)

1. Download types – first there are two (2) types of downloads, DIRECT DOWNLOAD and via Torrent. Direct download means that you are getting the file directly from the host server. This could mean either FTP or the standard HTTP. Meanwhile, torrent means that you have to get (in parts) from all the people interconnected in the web who have the same file in their hard drive. You have to get yourself a torrent application for this (see below). The more number of people who “seed” (or share) the file, the faster it will finish downloading
2. Torrent Applications – there are various torrent applications on the web. Here are my recommendations
   1. Bittorrent
   2. uTorrent
   3. Azureus Vuze
3. Don’t get cut off – Sometimes for large files, your internet connection may not be so kind and go off any minute. This means that you may have to download the thing again from the start. Sucks, right? Especially if you’re into the damn “90%” range. I suggest you get yourself a download manager such as GetRight. These types of applications allows you to continue where you left off. Neat!
4. Don’t hog the bandwith or the PC – for large downloads, hogging the bandwith (watching video or downloading simultaneous files) may corrupt it and leave you with a damaged client. I suggest you take it easy. Avoid activities (like gaming while downloading) that may hamper your download. Me? I download large stuff before I sleep. Some apps have the ability to turn off the PC once the files are finished.
5. It still is %#*#%@*&! – Take it easy there! Here are possible reasons why the file may be corrupted
   1. Your Anti-virus thought is was a virus
   2. Incomplete files – if you did not use a download manager, this often becomes the case
   3. The original file IS corrupted
   4. Other reasons
6. What to do next? – Having problems? Here are some suggestions
   1. Ask for help. Commenting on this blog is a good start. But MAKE SURE to read on the other comments first. Your question may already be answered by others.
   2. Go to Customer Support. The URL? https://support.levelupgames.ph/login.aspx
   3. Ask other guys for help – via Forums or blogs
7. If all else fails – you can either download it again (sheesh… sorry) or ask a friend to burn you a working copy. Alternately, you can go to our office for a free CD. You’re also free to borrow, burn or copy our CD installers.

If you live under a rock, you won’t know that teleport items such as Butterfly Wings or “Bwings” are illegal in Valkyrie, Philippine Ragnarok Online’s newest Free-to-Play (F2P) server.

But someone just e-mailed me an interesting screenshot.

Apparently, you can see in the photo below that a single butterfly wing is vending at 99M! Holy (*#&*(!@$!

Well, according to the RO Game Manager, this here “anomaly” is the result of a very, very RARE drop.

They haven’t told me what monster and where. I will find out more about this will update everyone via comment below.

The pRO team has finally decided to break the silence on “Project Valkyrie” for Philippine Ragnarok Online. I already announced this last week. In fact, Waukeen had campaigned for all Level Up bloggers to blog about it and and even upload the official teaser trailer video of the new Free-to-Play server.

So far, so good. With a slated launch this October 10, we’re getting mixed feedback about this. Feedback, if done constructive, is always welcome for us. Due to this, we can do some minor adjustments and FOCUS our efforts to giving better service to YOU, our dear customers.

This post is intended to summarize some of those inputs and hopefully as a way for me to address some concerns.

DeSquallie was among the first ones to agree to the Valkyrie concept. He said “But on a brighter note, the F2P server idea is a great way for people to get into the game without paying game time but with certain limitations.”. Thanks for this dude. We are really trying our darnest best to make the concept work. This wasn’t done overnight. A lot of thought and process was done to make the marketing plan and the product stand out.

One of the key factors for success of the product is to make the server free from bots and dupe. This is a tough assignment, mind you. Since bot-makers are always trying to be one step ahead of us, we need all the help we can get from Gravity, the developers of the game.  Workingdude says to this effect; “ok yan it will bring some of players back to RO… since its free to play… pero pero pero… sana wala nga bot…” He then adds; “but the whole idea is good! at least po mas marami ulit lalaro….” Sidsawyer may have hit on technical fix to battle the bot program makers; “a new dawn for roquiters because of the bot.  sana magbantay 24/7 ang mga vanguards. RO bot developers always crack that data.grf to know the ipaddress ang hexing Rag.exe to bypass gameguard wala ba kayong magandang solusyon para makontra ganitong gawain? (itago nyo ipaddress nyo nakikita sa sclientinfo.xml pag na extract ung data.grf!!)”. Alrighty! Thanks for this dude, we’ll look into it.

Meanwhile, not everyone is happy with it. Ayekah said “Well, I highly doubt that this initiative will bring back the former RO players who quit. After all, no character migration means starting yet again from scratch. If those old high-level RO players with godly items who quit before can have the willpower to leave it all behind, I doubt enticing them with a supposedly bot-free F2P server with level1 characters will do the job. “

Ayekah, the goal for the server is a “clean start”. We can’t afford to migrate characters in a world where majority of the rare stuff is for sale in the mall. That will mean a lot of imbalance in terms of economics and item control. Tell you what, since we have DIRECT CONTROL of the items for sale in this server, we can have a regular count – say GTB cards. If we only issue 100 of these and upon next maintenance the count goes to 105, then we will all know that there’s been duping or “something fishy” going on. We also want to be transparent and maybe even have player representatives look (Midgard Police) and help us in policing the server too.

Regarding Thor, we are not turning our back from it. The same settings will most likely be implemented. We are in the testing stage for this, so don’t worry.

I’m so sorry if I don’t have time to address and answer each and every comment on the Valkyrie post. Been busy (as always) trying to rush stuff and prep for the launch. We’ll be having the download instructions up soon (it’s just 5MB for those with a current pRO client).

Trust me… you won’t regret it

RF Philippines had a very long maintenance yesterday, August 28. This is to make certain that all final tests and configuration for the new system – Episode 2 is all working perfectly. The new system was officially up 11:30pm of last night.

As you may already know, Episode 2 changes the game forever.

RF is now FREE TO PLAY. And due to the  extended maintenance, everyone will be given a free trial of the premium service. Expect this to be announced soon at the RF site.

I’ve heard also that a lot of players and cafes thought that the installer (either downloaded or through the CD) was not working because of our extended maintenance. This prompted some of them to download it or install it again.

Let me assure you that everything is working and all is ok.
