A couple of weeks ago, executives from Aeonsoft, developers of our MMO Fly For Fun (FlyFF) came here to the Philippines to donate $10,000 (USD) to victims of the flood and typhoons via Sagip Kapamilya, the official arm of ABS-CBN for relief efforts.

Leading the Aeonsoft contingency is Mr. Andy Kim, CEO of Aeonsoft. Ms. Tina Monzon Palma Project Director of Sagip Kapamilya personally accepted the donation.

Aeonsoft donated $10,000 to Sagip Kapamilya, ABS-CBN Foundation’s emergency humanitarian assistance program that provides relief and rehabilitation efforts to disaster-affected communities. SK’s project director Tina Monzon-Palma personally accepted Aeonsoft’s generous donation.

“We heard about the situation from updates we got from the internet and we were moved by the Filipino’s strength and determination in times of crisis,” Andy Kim, Aeonsoft’s CEO said. “So we decided to help the citizens of the Philippines who took serious damage from the recent typhoon Ondoy.”

Since its foundation in 2002, Aeonsoft has grown into a major player in the game development industry. The company’s first RPG, Flyff (Fly for Fun) Online, was the first to introduce the Flying system in MMORPGs. Now their games are licensed all over the world, with Level Up! Games distributing Flyff in the Philippines.

Thanks so much Mr. Andy Kim and Aeonsoft. This is the first time that a game developer has shown support for the victims of the flood and typhoon.

Hats off! I hope others follow their lead.

Coming this April is our latest patch for FlyFF Online: Version 13.

In this post, allow me to share with you some teasers on one of the main highlights of the patch, Coral Island. Coral Island is a cash map, just like Azria before. You just have to buy a ticket from the Item Mall to take advantage of the great monsters, drops and EXP… not to mention the cool scenery.

It’s going to be a big treat for all of you, loyal Level Up gamers as we save the best for last!

The entire Level Up team is cooking up one helluva storm this last quarter. It starts off with LIVE 2008 – the biggest online gaming event on Philippine shores. This year, we took it up another notch by hosting the Ragnarok World Championships, the first ever RWC held outside of Seoul, Korea. The entire world watched and was in awe of the massive event where 20,000 gamers trooped to the WTC to witness history.

And that was just the beginning…

For the last quarter of 2008, we have tons of exciting stuff for all your favorite Level Up MMORPGs:

• Ragnarok – the talk of the town is New Chaos – the merged server of Baldur, Tyr and Freya. New systems are in place to make Agit Siege tougher and more challenging. And that’s not all, we’re also giving you the Demise of Morroc expansion to Ragnarok which features the new battlegrounds, Satan Morroc MVP and a tougher, meaner Baphomet. All of this will be coming in November. With all the stuff, promos, item mall sales and updates that the Ragnarok team is doing, every RO player will have their hands full this last quarter. Be sure to check out the official pRO site for dates and other pertinent details.
• Perfect World – We kick it off with the Moon Valley expansion for Perfect World and then put the pedal to the metal by slashing off more than 30 items in the PW item mall. Now, all those expensive items are affordable! This will mean more savings for PW players. Meanwhile, guilds and clans will be forging new alliances as we strategically wipe out the standings of the Territorial Wars. It’s back to zero and a fair playing field for all. You’ll have to grind up those levels and prepare for the battles ahead. By December, we will be announcing another surprise that will definitely rock your Perfect World. Remember, it’s Your World, Your Game!
• Fly For Fun – FlyFF also let off some steam by unleashing V12: The Forsaken Tower. Version 12′s most prominent feature is the Lord System where a single player (voted by his/her peers) assumes Lordship of the server. He or she will have awesome GM-like powers that include giving EXP mods, among others. And that’s not all! GM Atma and his team also pulled off the longest recorded EXP mod ever for a local online - almost 3 months of daily EXP so that FlyFFers can catch up for the awesome features of Version 12. In the months to come, the FlyFF team will also give you more events, and new items will be released in the item mall. So, stay tuned!
• RF Online – The RF team started off strong too. By a strategic partnership with PCX, a limited run of RF-themed super-computers was designed. In fact, we were so excited that we gave a couple of them away via the PCX Top Up promo. We weren’t just content with that so we added more days to premium subscription. Also, the in-game story events, of which RF is known for, continues weekly. And yes, the RF team won an award for their outstanding website. In the weeks ahead, we will announce a surprise opportunity for all citizens of Novus. Stay tuned as GM Cydie and crew stir up another galactic war in the weeks to come!

Today, November 5, marks the official launch and patching into the main worlds of Flyff Version 12, the Forsaken Tower.

One of the exciting features of this patch is the Lord System – this means that one PLAYER in the server (or world) will become “Lord” and will have near -GM abilities such as giving EXP or Drop events in his server, but an appropriate amount of penya must first be paid in order to start this via the Lord Manager NPC. Also, a percentage of tax from NPC merchants will go to the lord which is sent everyday via system mail.

Yowzaa! GM Atma (and his trusted CM – GM Tyler) have spoken!

FlyFF Philippines will have the longest bonus exp event ever recorded in Philippine gaming. Yeah, never have I seen something this massive (and fun). GM Tristan out…

Last Saturday, October 4, we did the Road to Live event at the SM Mall of Asia. The main event was the Grand Finals of RPC 2008 and once the dust settled, it was Bozanian Beast Fighters who came out the winner. Besting 7 others in the Final 8, Boza is now officially Team Philippines and will represent out country in RWC 2008 on Oct 18 and 19 at the LIVE 2008 event (World Trade Center).

Meanwhile, we had lots of fun at the event. Yours truly, together with GM Atma and the other Community Managers did the hosting and raffled off scores of in-game items, jackets, shirts and freebies.

Aside from the RPC finals, we had RF Skirmish, PW Boss Time Attack and the last battle of the FlyFF Hodet which we, unfortunately, canceled due to technical difficulties (not to worry, GM Atma will be re-scheduling that ASAP). Crazy Kart also had their first ever Drift Invitational event also at the SM MOA grounds.

This is exciting news since FlyFF Philippines has just started testing v12 and we’re scheduled to launch it this last quarter of the year. We’ll give you the dates once we finalize it.

FlyFF Version 12 Features

• Forsaken Tower and secret rooms – Located deep in the south of Flaris lies the Forsaken Tower, where the most horrendous creatures dwell. Within the Forsaken Tower, players will face mystical creatures derived from mythology from all over the world.
• Lord System – This new system allows you to vote for a candidate in each group, and the “Lord” will have exclusive rights for two weeks. The nature and decision of the Lord will affect the whole server, so be careful whom you vote for!
• Rangda, Witch’s Curse – Rangda is the soul of a cursed witch that lies in the deep forest of Darkon. Each of the four incarnations of Rangda : Rangda, Horrible Rangda, Uncanny Rangda, and Dreadful Rangda- drops unique items!
• New Tutorial System – The new easy-to-use tutorial will teach newcomers how to play Flyff from the very
  beginning, one step at a time. It will walk the player through all the basics from controls, to inventory, to combat. The tutorial will be accessible from anywhere via Pang, the penguin guide.

5 Things to Remember When Awakening your Weapons for FlyFF

Everything we know now were all questions before. I don’t believe in “stupid” questions. Questions are questions, per se. To me, they’re more of an intellectual’s tool because no one gets less intelligent by trying to understand some things. Hopefully, we all are supportive of the inquisitive minds that we come across with every now and then.

Player: Hey, mister!
Me: Yeah? Can I help you with anything?
Player: What does awake mean?
Me: What?
Player: It says here under my weapon’s description, “The item available to awake”. Any clue what that means?
Me: Ehrm… *uses town blink wing*

Okay, so I’m not exactly a good role model. But for all those new players out there who have the same question but are too shy to ask them out loud, here are five things you need to remember about the process of Awakening.

5 Things You Need to Remember About Awakening

1.) Basically, Awakening is improving your equipment with randomized additional stats. That means, you could either gain a stat or lose them all just like that.

2.) Awakening can not fail but it’ll cost you 100,000 penya every single time.

3.) To awaken equipment, take it to [Upgrade Specialist] BoBoChan.

4.) You can only remove the awakened attributes by using a Scroll of Reversion which is sold in the Cash Shop. Doing so, can not fail and will not break your equipment.

5.) You can awaken weapons, shields and armor suits.

It’s time to awaken your inner potential, fellow Flyffers!
