Was at SM MegaMall earlier for the annual Comic Con. As expected, the area was abuzz with Cosplayers. What really surprised me is the talent and creativity of our cosplayers. They really get better through the years.
Cosplay in LIVE 2010 is always a highly anticipated event. This year, our cosplayers did not fail to amaze us the thousands watching.
Here’s my special photo picks / highlights of the cosplay. Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the cute, peerty (and always masipag) Cheena Que, my “idol” Hazel Velas and our partners, Cosplay.ph for helping us organize it. Thanks, guys!
One of the winners of the LIVE 2008 Cosplay (Best female cosplayer) is “that Cora Girl”. Well, she’s not a “Jane Doe” anymore. Her real name is Shelah Zephaniah S. Espino or simply “Zeph” for short.
My good friend Master Diwa, also a reknowned cosplayer, did an interview of Zeph. Apparently, this is the first time that Zeph cosplayed for a major event. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of Zeph in the coming months. ”It feels great! We were ecstatic, we were overwhelmed and surprised! There are a lot of good cosplayers out there, and I wasn’t even thinking of winning then. I just wanted to get it over with, in a good way though. I loved being in my Cora costume, so it helped ease the pressure.” Zeph said.
The annual cosplay is one of the main attractions at LIVE. And this year, we were once again in awe of the creativity of the Pinoy cosplayer. Even my friends from Gravity were impressed. That makes me proud to be Pinoy! Thanks to all those who joined and special thanks goes to GM Lilith for being the uber-lady-in-charge of the LIVE cosplay. When it comes to cosplay, we always defer to her. Thangs, Leng for a fantastic job, as always.
I’ve managed to shoot some photos during the cosplay. But since I was really busy, I wasn’t able to document the entire thing. Cosplay slide show follows the jump.
I was at the Ozine Fest 2008 last Sunday, April 6. Venue? SM Megamall megatrade hall. The Ozine event is all about Otaku – cosplay, anime, manga, toys and of course, online games. And we were there in full force as co-presentor.
I arrived around 3pm just in time to catch the start of the 200-entry cosplay, one of the largest (I think) in recent history. Too bad I couldn’t stay long enough to find out who won since me and my wife had to go on a dinner date and then to mass.
The yearly cosplay for Level Up Live is already a tradition.
It’s one of the biggest productions and one of the most anticipated parts of the program. Of course, last year, we were wowed by Gamer Babe Charlene as the feisty succubus in her group’s skit. This year, it’s Master Diwa’s time. Diwa, together with the “Frost Jokers” pulled off one of the most original concepts for a group skit. Syempre, showcasing his natural talent for the violin.
For those who may not know it, Diwa is a professional musician and not just one of the pillars of the pRO community.
Anyways, congrats to Diwa and gang for winning the Group Cosplay segment.
Now that LIVE 2007 is just around the corner (November 3 and 4 at the World Trade Center), one of the most anticipated segments of that event is the cosplay.
The current cosplay is being headed by GM Lilith and you can find the mechanics here if you want to join.
At any rate, I thought I’d just share with you some RO-themed costumes which are the faves. Credit goes to cosplay.ph whom we are tying up with this year to help us with the LIVE 2007 cosplay and of course, a new project involving cosplay which we’ll unveil at LIVE.
