Blog Contest: Community Q and A

Hey peeps!

I know it’s been a while since the last blog contest.

Here’s something new… it’s the gmtristan dot com Community Q&A blog contest. The rules are simple. Just comment below and ask a question related to ANY Level Up game (RF Online, Ragnarok, Perfect World, FlyFF or Freestyle). At the end of the contest period, I’m going to pick five (5) winners. Your questions will be answered by game GMs, marketing guys or tech dudes depending on the nature of your concern. The Level Up guys that will answer your Qs will be doing this via video and will be posted to our youtube channel and here too (and yes, your real name and in-game name will be mentioned if you want. Woot!).

I’m going to give the 5 winners P100 Level Up Top-Up card each (I’ll just email the PINs so that you can get to use it instantly).

Level Up Link Bombing

Don’t be surprised by the term “link bombing”. I just wanna share a few bullets of what’s currently happening (or will happen soon) for all our current games.

  • The Guild Top Up Promo just launched. Your guild can get FREE in-game items just by topping up as a team. Brainless!
  • Meanwhile, the GMs have cooked up another event – Caravan’s Sting. Are your upgrading skills the best? Can you get a +7? Find out and maybe you can win a 30/30 Elem! OMG!

POGS 2008 Event Coverage

Yesterday, Jan 13, I was at the Trinoma mall in QC where the POGS 2008 Reroll event happened.

I arrived at the venue a little past lunch time. I was surprised at the long line that stretched all the way to the entrance. I wondered where it led? Was glad that it led to the Level Up booth (kewl!) where scores of gamers scrambled to complete their passports and get the chance to win the brand new Nintendo DS.

Thanks to everyone from LU who made this event happen. To Joie and Pam, who are always there to make sure that all things were ready. To CJ, Jhay and everyone at the events team. To all my Brand/Marketing people who attended, GM Atma, GM Cydie, GM Kumiko and to every member of the LU team who pitched in to help.

I even bumped into Master Diwa. He also has his event coverage here.

POGS 2008 Event This Sunday @ Trinoma

Hi all gamers!

I’m inviting to be with me and Level Up since we are part of the POGS (Philippine Online Gaming Summit) 2008 ReRoll event. This event will happen (all day) on Sunday, Jan 13, 2008 at the new Trinoma Mall in Quezon City.

We have lots of gimmicks in our booth. I’ll be there with some of my Brand Managers, Community Managers and GMs. So, I hope to seeya there as well.

Plans for RF Online Server Xenos

RF Online Philippines’ 4th world, Xenos is doing great.

We’ve had record numbers. In fact, the first few minutes we turned the server on, players already numbered in the thousands! Word from the community is that old and new players alike are going back to RF, the Philippines’ first and biggest (edited: SCI-FI) MMORPG.

Kudos to the efforts of my brand manager, Keith and community manager GM Cydie, and of course to the entire RF GM team for a swell job. Let me tell you some of our plans for Xenos in the coming weeks.

gmtristan.com Gamer Profiles

Starting this month (and this new year), I plan to have a new feature at gmtristan.com

It’s called GAMER PROFILES. Basically it’s an interview/bio of any gamer who wants to be featured at this site. Now’s your chance to get famous and tell the world why you’re a gamer. I’m hoping to feature at least one gamer every week (with your help of course).

This way, you can meet new friends in your game, in your server and even have a little “bragging rights” with your guild or clan mates. Also, you can share some tips on gaming and show the world your “skillz”.

Chicago Chimera is CGS 2007 Champion

The Computer Gaming Series (or CGS) is a well-capitalized global media company which uniquely targets the $37 billion global video gaming category with an innovative and compelling sports entertainment offering. The CGS is the only worldwide professional gaming league and enjoys full coverage via television and other media.

Just recently in December,  after an eight-day World Final showdown at Sony Studios in Los Angeles, Chicago Chimera defeated Carolina Core in a thrilling championship match by a final score of 27-15 to capture the first-ever CGS league title and take home $500,000 in prize money. The team was also awarded the official Dew Trophy which they will hold until the 2008 World Final next year.

Each CGS team features a total of ten athletes, each specializing in an official League game. Five of the ten players comprise a Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S) squad which competes in five-on-five matches. FIFA 07 is played one-on-one. Each CGS team also has a mixed-doubles team of two DOA4 players, who will play against other teams in one-on-one matches on Xbox 360. The racing game PGR3 (Project Gotham) is played by two players on each team in a two-versus-two format.

FlyFF Philippines Event: Race to 120

Hear ye! Hear ye! Citizens of Roika!

The world of Fly For Fun (FlyFF) is calling all heroes to gather round.

There’s a race… a leveling race to level 120! Not many FlyFFers have reached the zenith of their careers yet. I think less than a dozen by last count. GM Atma and the lovely GM Kumiko have cooked up a treat for all of you.

The first 100 players to reach level 120 will get a FlyFF Premium Jacket (iRL) and a rare/special in-game item. The event will end on February 6, 2008. So get your “addict modes” up and start leveling now!
