Pacquiao Punch Out?

Ok, if you have an old Nintendo NES or Super Family Computer, you can relate to the clip above.

This is really cool. So, Pacquiao’s a gamer? Well… he could be. His name on a boxing game is definitely a good idea. Maybe they can start even on Facebook or something… and that will add to his coffer for sure.

Anyways, enjoy the clip. I won’t be surprised if a real Manny Pacquiao boxing game is in the works! Have fun in today’s Holiday. Peace!

Getting Started With The PS 3

If you’re a new PS 3 owner, like muah, here’s a cool guide from Gamespot to help you get started.

It has a lot of interesting tips and tricks such as suggested games, getting the most out of HDMI and your hardware, how to stream video, the basics of online gaming (via the PSN) and more.

Head on over to the article. It’s a good read. If you’re thinking of WHAT to get from your Christmas cash-loots… think no further… get yourself a PS 3. ‘Nuff said.

Most Impractical Console Controllers

We know that controllers do one thing – allow you, the user, to control the protagonist/character and interact with the game world or environment. These things should be fairly easy (and obvious) to use.

However, some designers kinda get carried away.

Here are some of the absurd video game controllers ever designed. Photos follow after the break.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Alright. This is a DEMO game for the full-featured Gran Turismo 5 slated for next year, 2009.

But, boy oh boy! Wipe that drool off your cheek after watching the full trailer below. Gran Turismo 5 is a sight to behold! Bring this video back a couple of years (even just into the ’90′s) and you’d swear you were watching REAL CARS! Man, it’s THAT good!

Woot!

Gamer Cribs: Girard Garcia

When we go on coffee breaks here at Level Up, we always end up talking about gaming. We compare notes on the best setups, how to avoid 3RLs in Xbox, etc. etc.

This made me think; wouldn’t it be cool to feature and show my readers some of the actual gaming cribs of actual Pinoy gamers? Sweet! ‘Eureka blogging-moment’.

And as debut for “Gamer Cribs” (I thought of that name myself. Wapak!), I talked to Girard Garcia. Girard works for our creative department as senior copywriter and editor. He’s the guy that cranks up all those words in our flyers, websites and press releases. Girard or “Gi” is also an avid console gamer and he’ll show us his setup below.

Magnavox Odyssey: First Video Game Console

Yeah, we all love the Xbox and the Wii. And some people (like me) still love the PS2. I don’t think I can say much for the PS3 (yet).

While, we marvel at the graphics and capabilities of today’s console, you will want to hear about a not-so-famous one, the Magnavox Odyssey.

The Magnavox Odyssey is the worl’d first video game console. Launched in May of 1972, it was there even before the more famous Atari 2600 was (1976). The Magnavox Odyssey prototype, known as the “Brown Box”,is now at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.

Assasin’s Creed is Best Action Adventure Game 2007

Assassin’s Creed, developed by French gamemaker UbiSoft came out as the Best Action Adventure game for 2007. This honor was bestowed by the prestigious game site, GameSpot.

But it faced off tough competition. Can you say God of War 2, Resident Evil 4, Tomb Raider Anniversary, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass? Whew! But the people’s votes and the editors choice were the same. Assassin’s Creed came out on top.

The game takes place in 1191 AD. You play an elite Assassin sent to stop the hostilities by suppressing the powers on both the Crusader and Saracen sides. But as you carry out your missions, a conspiracy begins to unfold. You find yourself tangled up in a conflict that threatens not only the Holy Land, but the entire world.

Boy Donates Wii to Help Poor

It always warms my heart to hear tales about good Samaritans.

And that’s exactly what an 11-year-old boy in the U.S. of A. did.

Tyler Strasser hosted a toy drive recently, where everyone who donated got a raffle ticket to compete in a Nintendo Wii bowling competition. The winner will get to take home the Wii.

The toy drive was organized to help the needy. Little Tyler has been collecting stuff and giving them to those in need since he was three.

Meet the Vii – China’s Answer to the Wii

Alrighty then!

The Chinese are at it again with a shameless clone. It’s the Vii

This time it’s a clone of the Nintendo Wii. They even cloned the controller. According to Gaming Today:

“They’ve even cloned the Wii-mote rather well, relatively speaking of course, giving it the Wii-esque pastel color of choice. Engadget’s China affiliate recently conducted hands-on experience with the Vii and even provide side by side comparisons with its genetic parent. “

Here’s a comparative photo:
