Goodbye Tunay Na Lalake

One of my favorite Pinoy Blogs, Tunay Na Lalake (or TNL) has simply vanished. I just saw them get some awards a couple of weeks back at the PBA.

Anyways, currently, the only thing posted on their blog are the words “Paalam Baby… It’s not you. It’s me.” All their archives and posts are also gone.

Makes me wonder. Does anyone know the reason(s) why they closed? For what’s it worth – thank you TNL for all the laughs and for the good times.

You will be missed…

Skills That A Blogger Needs To Hone

Being a blogger is no joke. Just maintaining a single blog is indeed heavy work. Now, imagine maintaining several; and juggling your time between blogging and your other real-life responsibilities become a chore.

In this post, my goal is to teach you what skills you need to sharpen as a blogger. Hopefully, this will make your blog(whether it’s just a business or you turn semi-pro on it and earn money) better and also, it’s a timesaver too.

How To Do Blog Advertising and Marketing

In my experience as both a blogger and a marketing professional, I’ve witnessed this so-called “in thing” in the industry, Blog Marketing and/or Blog Advertising.

Yet, a lot of companies and even marketing practicioners don’t fully grasp the fundamentals of this concept. Much akin to mistaking advertising to marketing, some think that emailing bloggers and gathering them to events is the end-all and be-all of this new medium.

I’d like to clarify that misconception and share with you a few of my personal tips on how to tackle and do Blog Marketing for your own campaigns.

Top 10 Posts of 2008

After the long and detailed 2008 year end review, now I’d like to share with you some of the most memorable and most popular posts here at my blog for the past year.

2008 has been one heck of a ride and the blog has never been better. Thanks to all of you, of course, my dear readers. Without your support, diligence and visits, gmtristan.com would never experience the kind of growth that it has right now. Being human, there have been hits and there have been “misses”. One can never be perfect, yet we always strive to be better by giving more value to others in what we do.

To do that, just remember to do the what’s moral and what’s right… and do a damn good job at it. Now, let’s click the “read more” link before I reach for a hankie and get teary-eyed…

Where Do Your Readers Come From?

Blogging brings your ideas and thoughts to a worldwide audience. I’ve been blogging for more than a year now and it’s very glad to note that readership continues to grow and grow at a steady pace. Ask any professional blogger and he (or she) will say that content is a big part to why your readers return. Also, readership and the numbers DO NOT grow overnight. I remember a time when my readers were in the low hundreds. Now that I have thousands of readers daily, it’s nice to know that they come from all around the globe.

More details after the break…

Blog Sold for $15M Dollars

Whoa! Who says you can’t make money blogging? Here’s proof.

While bloghopping, I saw this post by Darren Rowse, where a blog was recently purchased for $15M. Now THAT’S A LOT OF MOOLAH, folks. Guess what? The blog, bankaholic, is manned by a staff of one.

Bankaholic was purchased by Bankrate for said sum. I guess blogging is really worth it. I’m not so sure if anyone would buy mine for 15 million dollars… but who knows? Now THAT’S a goal.

Have a happy weekend!

Philippine Blog Awards 2008 Photo Essay

Last September 21, I was with Level Up colleagues and fellow bloggers, Kevin Codamon and Carlo Ople for the awards night of the Philippine Blog Awards 2008. The event was held at the One Esplanade, just near the SM Mall of Asia.

Of course, as a major sponsor, Level Up had a booth there as well as having our very own Level Up Gaming Blog Award.

More photos coming up next.
