Say No to Vat on Oil
Name someone who’s happy about the rising cost of fuel? Well, even the gas company execs won’t make the cut in that list. One of the reasons for the high cost of fuel is that stupid law called VAT. Personally, I think VAT is just an excuse for some politicians to make money for their own pockets.
Good thing Senator Mar Roxas has spearheaded the fight to kill the 12% VAT on oil/fuel. And he’s taken the battle to the web with http://virtualrally.net

Virtual Rally is a neat website where you can join the petition. Simply register and pick from hundreds of icons to represent you.
According to their About Page; “Senator Mar Roxas believes in truth, transparency, and an openness to public discourse as a way of strengthening and promoting genuine democracy. This virtual rally site is his way of inviting the public - students, parents, private and public sector employees, and fellow Netizens - to look at issues, pick a side, and make a stand.”
Way to go, Mr. Palengke! Idol!
Last week, the good senator soft-launched the site via a dinner with bloggers. I was supposed to be with that group but some things at work kept me at my desk. Don’t worry Wauks, gmtristan.com will support Senator Mar all the way.

I think this is a good idea. VAT has been around too long and too many scumbag politicians are taking advantage of the grease it’s generating. It’s not fair to people.
We’ve had corruption for way too long. We gotta do something about it…
Good thing he’s just trying to suspend the EVAT on oil for 6 months. Personally, I don’t see point in doing so. Yes, patok ito sa masa — but it won’t do anything good for the economy in the long-run. Neither would it do much good in the short-run too. It may bring down oil prices for a while but the inflationary effects will continue on.
