Review: Share your Thoughts

July 26, 2008 · Filed Under Blogging

I just recently stumbled into a new blogging service and it’s currently on beta.

It’s called Thoughts and the URL is www.thoughts.com.

Like any blogging portal or SNS service, this site will allow you to do normal things like blog, do posts, upload your photos and videos and more. But what struck me the most is that Thoughts has a simple, straightforward, clean and clutter-free interface and design . I found the clean/white interface to be unobtrusive and looking for what you need or what to do is fast and easy.

More about the site after the break
REGISTRATION

Registration is a snap. All you need is an e-mail, fire up the ‘captcha’ (that weird numbers image to prevent spam registration) and you’re up and running. The verification e-mail arrived in a matter of seconds. And yep, it didn’t go to my spam folder (I’m using gmail). Of course, you can automatically invite your family and friends via a special connection to your gmail or yahoo inbox list.

Once done, I had a new blog page:

BLOG INTERFACE

Here’s what the WYSIWG interface looks like

It’s not as robust or function-filled like Wordpress or Blogger but hey, it gets the job done. It’s simple and easy to use. That’s what’s important. I hope that in the future, they allow widgets here.

ONE-STOP SEARCH

Perhaps one of the more innovative functions of this new blogging service is that it has a search function that, according to them, “We have combined the 3 best search engines on the web all in one place. Now you can easily compare search results across Google, Yahoo and MSN by clicking on the tabs above. We also have included a thoughts.com search tab if you want to search the community.” Cool!

What else can you do at the site?

  • make blog posts
  • upload photos & videos
  • share podcasts
  • give feedback
  • chat on the forums
  • instant message other members

CONCLUSION

Thoughts.com may not be as robust as the other more popular blogging and photo/video services out there. But the simple and easy-to-use interface and navigation coupled with an innovative search function is a definite delight. What’s good is that these guys basically combined all your blogging and photo/video needs in one place. Something that users should definitely try.
