Ragnarok Rollback Update: Servers Now Up

Whew!

What a long day… I never saw so many comments in a post! Anyways, thanks for those who sent positive feedback. The day was toxic here in the office as Wauks, me and the rest of pRO team and Gravity held a hundred meetings and came up with different scenarios in order to find a fair solution to the problem.

The servers are now up and there has been NO JUNE 1 ROLLBACK (except for a minor one, explained after the jump) and NO ZENNY OR ITEM WIPE. I guess that’s good news for most of you. But we are still aware of the dupe item problem and we’ve read and listened to your feedback and suggestions too throughout the day.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT 

First and foremost, we would like to apologize for the extended server maintenance for today, June 13, 2007. Throughout the day, Gravity was working closely with us to determine the best course of action and come up with a solution to the current problem brought about by the duplication “dupe” exploit which became rampant last June 1, 2007.  

We would like to announce that all servers are now up and operational and commercial worlds now have 3x EXP until June 20, 2007 as promised. 

There has been NO rollback (except for a minor one, see below) and NO item wipe. 

As many would have noticed, the illegally duplicated items resulted in a sudden crash of the in-game economy. We already have plans in motion to solve the problem but we want to verify first before we announce the details. Until such a time, we strongly recommend that EVERYONE AVOID trading, vending, or buying rare and powerful gear UNTIL we release an announcement. However, please be advised that the kafra, inventory, and zenny was rolled back to June 12, 2007 (12 noon) as a safety measure for those players who might have anticipated the announced rollback and did crazy things like throw away items and carelessly over-upgraded their equipment.  

We are still finding more ways to lessen the impact on innocent players who bought illegal items and we will be announcing measures for this in the soonest possible time. Also please take note that our Vanguard team will be investigating all the trade logs/item transfers and we will not hesitate to permanently ban players who are found guilty of illegally trading duped items. Our goal is to find a solution which would not affect innocent players and only punish those who are guilty of illegal item duplication, selling and trading. 

We apologize for the inconvenience that the extended downtime and for all the anxiety. Lastly, we would like to thank the community for their feedback, suggestions and support.

    In other words, the dupes are still there, and trading is still risky as ever. Worse still, the thousands of GR cards are just too screwed up.

    Soon enough you’ll see a significant shrink in the RO in-game community (as if it wasn’t small enough already). 50m is like P250 in some servers, and likely it’ll go as low as 50m : P10 if things continue as it is.

    I really suggest that a competency and integrity check be done with the people in charge of shutting down RO during maintenance, because frankly duping occurs when the server is shut down without disconnecting the players properly first (at least that’s what I read in Ragnaboards before it shut down).

    Are people doing what they’re supposed to do? Or are they slacking off, attempting to shortcut the whole procedure by just pressing the off button?

    Or worse, are they intentionally screwing the servers for the benefit of the dupers?

    NICE maintenance LUG! in the end the duping still continues woooo! seriously, if you can’t wipe out all the dupes, make it legal nalang. wala rin kwenta kung puro nalang paasa eh. since last year pa yang dupe issue na yan. may mga nahuli at nabanned na nga sa chaos dati, pero ano ginawa nyo? in-unbanned nyo rin nung mejo nagdie down na yung issue. ang galing nyo talaga! pusta ko nde nyo rin tatanggalin yang dupes na yan. takot ata kayo sa mga culprits eh! LOL! ano pang use magreklamo kung papakawalan nyo rin sa huli?

    magpakalalaki kayo and be a man of your words. kung sinabi nyong tatanggalin nyo, wag na puro palaboy laboy pa. JUST FCKIN DO IT MAN! anong reason bat JUNE 1 lang eh since last year pa ung dupes? magisip naman kayo!

    are you sure na walang nawalang zeny at items?
    look at baldur prontera map..look all the players there saying bat nawala zeny items etc..
    how can you explain that thing?

    i the one who lost 570m..explain it to me what happen on my zeny and the other players zeny/items?

    hence either thoese items are dupes are loko lang sila All the item I sold yesterday Shoes[1],Honeys and Even the Elus and Muffs/shoes[1] I used for overupgrading returned and also the zeny I earned yesterday all gone =/ resell time /swt

    If you got Zeny for nothing like php It will return but if you sold something like item and got zeny the zeny you earned will disappear however the item will come back thats how rollback works

    you guys wanna get somewhere in the meantime? hint for your stuff, and your supplies and do all the upgrading yourself. this is the only thing you can do at the moment… or hunt and save your money.

    thanks for not taking the easy way out. doesn’t solve anything though, but at least you’re not sacrificing the innocent to clear up a mess that began from faulty programming. if anyone is just liable for this entire fiasco it’s GRAVITY. get them to shape up man.

    maybe they should hire more Filipinos over there in Korea. after all we’re the sneakiest, most amoral bunch of people around. /heh

    as they say, to catch a thief, hire one.

    and please, don’t sacrifice the innocent. punish the guilty. try to understand where all these people are coming from. these people play your games to get away from the stress of everyday life.

    to get a way from a country where the government acts with such impunity it’s funny. where the government can rig an election and kill those who try to do the right thing. just like that.

    you have a lot of young people playing your games… young people who’ve been taken in by DUPING, CHEATING BASTARDS who look so cool becuase they openly break the rules and not pay for it.

    don’t make Rune Midgard like the Philippines, Tristan.

    give them the RO equivalent of what Fred Lim or Duterte does to criminals.

    keep them out of Rune Midgard’s problems. protect them from those who would prey on them.

    Well said Brightmoon.

    Unfortunately the things that have contributed to RO’s decline have been around since 2003. I have since changed games and have focused more on international, (TBC!)servers because of certain issues.

    RO needs a bit more policing if LUG wants it to stay around for a few more years. All those open source and stop gap measures programs are killing it.
