Ragnarok: Dupe Item Rollback to June 1

Update (10:30pm). Been discussing this at Waukeen’s blog and there are many negative sentiments towards the roll-back. I invite you all here to share your thoughts too.  

This is as per the official statement on the Ragnarok site:

We’ve been receiving multiple complaints about the duplicated item issue. As such, our IT and GM teams worked together with Gravity to determine the full extent of the exploit. We’ve isolated the problem in the following servers – Baldur, Tyr, and Freya.

In order to preserve the game integrity and balance of the game we’re going to have inventory, kafra storage, and cart rollback tomorrow (June 13, 2007) during maintenance to June 1, 2007 for the said servers. Take note that your levels, experience, agit economy, agit safeguard, and RPC scores will NOT be affected by this development. Due to the time needed to implement these changes, maintenance will be extended until 4:00PM. Players who were caught exploiting the bug will be sanctioned accordingly. If you have any suspects, please feel free to submit a player misconduct ticket through Customer Support so we can investigate properly. Gravity will also be making security updates which aims to block new and future methods of this bug.

As compensation, affected servers will be on 3x EXP until June 20, 2007. Thor will be on 2.5x and Urdr will be on 4x because of their previous compensation for the delayed character slot expansion which was scheduled last week.

Told yah… we were gonna do something about the dupe issue. Too bad it’s a rollback. I just wrote about rollbacks about 2 weeks ago and now, it’s actually happening. Sigh. But trust me, this is for the good of the majority. This decision was a hard thing for us to do. But as I said, game intergrity and game balance are still on top of our priorities and the rollback, albeit “negative-looking” in the onset is in the best interest of Midgard and all its citizens.

    wag na kyo mag expect na matatapos to ngayon. kung ako senyo, magpahinga kayo, mag relax, at wag muna mag isip ng ragnarok for the whole day. alam ko mahirap, lalo na sa mga die hard na nagaalala kung anong mangyayari sa mga items nila. subukan nyo lang wag muna mag isip ng ragnarok. malay mo, marealize nyo na pde kayong maging masaya ng walang RO. edi quit na!!! para matuto yang mga unggoi na taga LUG na walang alam kundi magpayaman at magpalaki ng mga itlog nila.

    We already get the point that duped items ruin the game’s integrity; but, please understand that that’s beside the point.

    The fact of the matter is that you’re deleting ALL items, regardless whether they were duped or not in the first place. What for? The process of eliminating all duped items may be a bit tedious, but, pardon for the term, damn it you guys are there to come up with the solution that is in everyone’s best interest! And for the life of me, I cannot see how this will benefit the clients in the long run… Unless of course, you give us a very good reason why everyone else’s legally-acquired items are to be taken away along with their counterfeit peers, because as everyone can see, your reasons aren’t good enough. Duping has existed long before June 1 and the prices have been plummeting even before the merge (if you’re still in the dark about this).

    You talk of game imbalance. If you guys were really intent on cleaning up the game, you would’ve Thor’d everything up and implemented the same security measures in the rest of the servers. So please, enough of that chivalrous tone; we already get that the company isn’t willing to lose a lot of business.

    Anyway, since the servers are already up and the rollback has been “shelved” for now, I do hope that there will be no more of those corner-cutting measures. Thanks for hearing us out :)

    LUG natataranta at naaalarma na sa dupe items! samantala sabi nila noon wala daw nagaganap na pag du dupe ng mga items, ngaun umikot ang tumbong nila sa dami ng dupe… isa lang ibig sbaihin nun.. sinungaling kayo at ang tatanga nyo pa! tanga nyo dahil tino2lerate nyo ung dupe items noon at ngaun lang kau gumawa ng kilos para puksain ang mga duppers… so pano na yan?? isa ako sa nadamay…. siguro naman masaya na kau kahit 1day rollback lang ang nagawa nyo… pero ang dami paring nag s suffer.. way the go LUG REALLY SUX! (2 tumbs up!)

GM T, apnu kung ikaw ung nsa case ko..? sna po maintndhan mo.. dpt kung magrorollback lng isama n ang lahat.. zeny, equips, items pwera lng ung XP.. sna ang compensation kunwari kelan nagstart ang issue ng dupe at kung kelan nangyari ang pinakaunang dupe un ung day 1, at kung ika ilang day 2 ngaun.. i-sum up un lahat, tpos kung ilan ung days n un, free 2 play ang ragna sa time n un.. tpos my XP modifier at drop rate.. sana ganun n lng.. dami magsisialisan pag pati mga inosente nadale.. 2lad ko!!! ako nga, pagipunan mi kya ang 265M kung di manigas yang mga mata mo.. hehe.. salamat.. nasasainyo p rn ang huling decision, and i hope it will be the best decision.. hay.. cge..

    i am just sad GM Tristan. my friend is now in the UK and has left me with his account. prior to the merge, he won the Dark Lord card at the bidding in the auction at the mylevelup promo for the iris server. he placed the cards on a +10 shoes [1] and during the wipeout, i was shocked that of all items, that was among one of them.

    i spoke with my friend at ym and told him about it. he was unhappy having spent 18k pesos to win that card and now this is how it will all end. if the shoes was the dupe item, just imagine how terrible it felt that he had no way of knowing those shoes were. since it was a bosscard, how will he even know, all he knew was that it has to be placed in a very highly upgraded foot wear.

    i filed the ticket already with customer service, i just don’t know how long the process will take. just want you to know that i appreciate LUG’s efforts but to take away something won legally with LUG is really disappointing.

    i hate to ask, but i don’t see any updates on our cases…

    i have to say this too, we are feeling left out for the longest time since the buzz around RO-town is, the game will be extinct anytime soon to give way to your RO2. i am sure you will say you are doing all that you can for us but i believe it will help if we could at least get an update.

    RPC 2007 is the worse rpc experience so far for us as we don’t find it funny to be disconnected every how many times during woe to date.

    GM tristan..wheres my proof…ung char name n Wongi sa baldur d ba edited un..last saturday ng gabi dated august 4..bakit d nyo ban ung 2 novice sa pront na nag dadrop ng arrows for almost 8 hrs d nyo man lang ngawan ng paraan..is it true that BOTTING is already accepted in PRO..dahil kung walang bot wala bibili ng 100/500 load d ba?dba jan kau kumikita eh..
