pROSE to Shut Down on August!

July 4, 2007 · Filed Under Gaming, General, Level Up, MMORPG News

I hate to be the bringer of sad news.

But after careful thought and consideration, we, Level Up, are shutting down operations for Philippine Rose Online. It’s been a great two years. I’m quite proud to have been there when it all started. And I’m really sad that we are saying goodbye to the game. But I’m sure it’s not the end of all that friendship, camaraderie and loyalty that the pROSE community have shown us.

Our adventures will continue… albeit in different worlds

Goodbye pROSE. It has been an honor…

The official statement after the jump

To Our Dearest Rose Community,

Greetings!

As you may already know, we were put to the test when Triggersoft (Gravity’s development team for ROSE) not only ceased development and technical support for ROSE Online but also shut down all operations recently. Many thought this was the end. But resilient as we are, we found a way to survive. We decided to follow the free to play business model, a risky and bold move, but one that we were willing to take… all to keep a great game going, keep everyone happy and  most of all, keep our community solid,  intact and alive.

ROSE was touted as THE game to play during its launch. We were able to make it the 2nd largest game in the Philippines with one of the most loyal and passionate gaming community this country has ever seen. It was supposed to have had the coolest features that one cannot find in other games, from simple joys like cute outfits, to big weapons of destruction such as the funky Castle Gear. And who could forget the world of the Seven Hearts, seven planets with its own unique environments and features.

We can keep on fighting but there is only so much we could do. And so, it is with deepest regret that we inform you that we will be shutting down operations for Philippine Rose Online on August 6, 2007, at precisely 12:00 noon.

We know how much pain this decision will bring to our loyal community. That is why, as a token of our appreciation, we shall be giving BONUS CREDITS TO OUR LOYAL ROSE PLAYERS (to their MylevelUp wallet) and reimbursing all unspent Moonies (see mechanics below).

In this regard, we’d also like to invite you to check out Ragnarok Online’s 15th Episode: Rachel now in Sakray.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will cherish the 2 years that we’ve spent together. No experience will ever equal the things we’ve had together as friends and comrades.

We hope though that we see each other again… still here at Level Up!
Sincerely,

The pROSE Team

I played during the free period before the commercial launch and it was fun. I played when Pay-to-Play was implemented and leveled hard till I got my own cart. Sigh of sorrow for a great game to end. Squallie was my character back then. :(

sad naman pero at least for me I got to try the game kahit konti before.

  3. fatman on July 5th, 2007 12:41 am

That’s very sad news. I’d rather it is pRO that closed instead of pROSE. I’m so sick to death of the community problems of pRO.

Now what? Has anybody made any study if pROSE’s problems will also be the same problems for pRO-2?

  4. peps on July 5th, 2007 1:02 am

    -Goodbye pROSE-

  5. elmer0224 on July 5th, 2007 2:11 am

  6. randomguy on July 5th, 2007 5:30 am

we were all so used to new games being introduced here and there…but never quite to those which are being closed….

  7. blitZzZ on July 5th, 2007 9:29 am

    quite expected…

I heard that international ROSE servers are already shutting down, so now pROSE. (I guess we are the last to shut down…)

well, it’s been a good game.

    bye pROSE!!!

    @gm t
the LOYALTY BONUS ONLY applies to reimbursements???

  8. Eia Lves on July 5th, 2007 9:33 am

If you can’t ban bots in pRO Thor server, then close it too. The special “ragdefender” that you talked about before is non-existent. Stop lying through your teeth.

Pagharap mo sa salamin, di ka ba nakokonsyensya? Ano ba pinagmemeetingan nyo nina Waukeen, kung paano gagawin Midgard Police ang buong population ng Thor?

How hard is it to assign JUST ONE Vanguard in Thor to take care of MP reports about botters? Care to answer that question?

You honestly can’t tell me that all the Vanguards are busy 24/7.

I’d really like to see your reply, if you answer at all. I hope you’re not like Waukeen who only replies to questions that he wants to answer.

  9. Althaia on July 5th, 2007 9:49 am

    G’bye pROSE

Even though I only played you before you went commercial on August 2005, I won’t forget the memories that you created.

  10. Perrin on July 5th, 2007 11:06 am

bye pROSE… i’ll cherish the memories of my one and only char AFKxBRBxDND who grinded with friends for some months before it went p2p… and a couple of months after.

With Ragnarok 2 coming up, you don’t need ROSE anymore. Some people called it Ragnarok Online Second Edition, anyway.

This is it, it’s reality my brethren pRose players. I have witnessed the birth and evolution of this game, but for now all I can say is GOOD BYE!!! I will surely miss this game, got addicted and hooked to it.

All the time and the top up cards turned to nothing…

Though not bad for a rebate and good thing I registered a mylevelup account since it was first on-line.

Good Bye!!! INFERNALS and fellow pROSE addicts/players
