Perfect World: Crafting Explained
One of the unique game features in Perfect World is its new and innovative crafting system.
And in order to be a successful and competitive player, you really need to know about crafting. It’s also one sure way to build up on wealth.
Taking from wikipedia and Nocturnal Sun, I’ve compiled some data on crafting that you might find useful.

CRAFTING BASICS
Each crafted item is unique as the item will bear the crafter’s name. The crafting system is similar to WoW or Everquest 2, except that you need to buy an item (looks like a axe) in order to gather resources from the floor. You will see stones, flowers etc. all around the world. If you double-click on them you begin to gather the resource. After a short time you get the gathered resources into your backback. There are 4 crafting professions (or schools) in the game. The four schools: Blacksmiths who craft the weapons, dressmakers who craft the armors and the fashion cloths, artificers who craft the jewels, bows and ammos(arrow),apothecarys who craft the potions. Everyone can learn all 4 schools, there is no need to specialize in just 1! There are 8 different types of materials: metal, coal, stone, wood, cloth, fur, rubber and grease. The first 4 types can only be gathered in the world. The last 4 types can only be gained from mobs. Every type has a different level(low, middle, high…). Gathering higher lvl materials need a higher lvl character etc. Another thing you need is Jade. You can buy or gain it from mobs. There are like 12+ lvl on Jade. You need the same lvl of jade to make the same lvl of armor/weapon/item.
MORE DETAILS
- A crafting attempt can result in random base statistics of three grades - minimum shop stats (one star), slight improvement (two stars) or elite (three stars). These terms are characterizations and not actual terms.
- Each piece of equipment crafted may gain anywhere from zero to three additional abilities. These abilities include, but are not limited to:
- Added HP or MP
- Added Atk, Matk, Def or Elemental Def values
- Added stats
- Reduced equipment requirements
- Increased stat maximums
- Rare effects (our resident crafter Dawg managed to create a set of boots that boosts your overall movement speed)
- In addition to special bonuses, crafted Weapons and Armor may gain anywhere from zero to four (at least, we have not seen any equipment with more than four) slots which players can insert gems into. Gems can be purchased from the Vendor NPCs and upgraded with the Synthesis NPCs (names not yet final) and can add basic bonuses to Weapons and Armor. (By “basic”, we mean general character values such as HP, MP, damage and defense)
- After crafting your ultimate equipment, you can then upgrade it, using the same process as RO’s weapon/armor upgrade. The significant difference? Failure will never destroy your equipment.
So what does this mean, exactly?
It means that players can spend days, weeks or even months crafting stuff to aim for that perfect customized equipment set. Want a high-mobility dodge set? It’s possible. An equipment set that incorporates layers and layers of Physical Defense for your tanker? Sure, why not? A weapon that can hit anything, deal mega damage and make french fries? Knock yourself out!
Right, with the good out of the way, let’s get into the better.
- Crafting is always successful. No worries about wasted material from failures.
- Crafted equipment can be broken down into base components, which can then be used to create consumable charms that temporarily increase attack or magic attack power.
- Three-star equipment can be broken down to obtain the rare stones that you need to upgrade material with.
- Crafting equipment nets you a small amount of EXP and Insight for each attempt.

This is the game that I’ll play next to Ragnarok
uh… upgrade failure does destroy an item unless you buy something from the item mall
uh…it doesnt break…do u actually play pw?
No upgrade failure? Sounds boring, though I maybe mistaken. For one, outcome is predictable. Although pure luck upgrade success/failure is also unreasonable in my opinion. I wonder what compromise is possible. But then again, randomness (is it really random) of attributes/specs can compensate for it. And hey, that’s the game
By the way, when you say you need to “buy” the axe, do you mean using cash, thru the Mall?
[…] Crafting Explained […]
Tailors cant craft Fashion cloth, at least not on MY server. They CAN, however, craft normal armors for all “classes” to wear.
Fashion is something bought with real life money, like cash sets on Maplestory and Gpotato “clothing” (e.g snowboarder)
UNLIKE the above two games, the color of the clothing bought can NOT be determined unless not bought normally from a “cash shop”. Players DO sell such fashion clothings for gold in cities all around Perfect World. One of the popular sets being the bikini series, sold for around 8,000,000 million gold just for a top or bottom, depending on color.
This is why I believe in Easter…
but where can i craft the at any blacksmith, tailor,,,,,,?
you cant just start crafting the items you want, first you need to learn the skill from the elder. Just go to the elder in any city i think and then complete the quest needed to recieve the basic lvl 1 skill of a particular crafting skill after you learn the skill you can then go to the appropriate NPC i.e blacksmith for weapons and craft after collecting the right materials
