Necromancer Will Not Be in Diablo 3

When Blizzard unleashed one of the industry’s best kept secrets – Diablo 3, the gaming community and the web were awash with speculations on gameplay, character classes and even lore. The hype for one of the most anticipated launches in gaming history has begun… score one for Blizzard yet again.

When they featured the Kratos-look-alike Barbarian and then the awesome Witch Doctor,  a lot of Diablo fans wondered what the new Necromancer would look like.

Hate to rain on your parade, folks. But Blizzard said that ONLY the Barbarian will make a comeback among the original Diablo bunch of characters…

In a post at Kotaku, Diablo III lead designer Jay Wilson says that there are “absolutely no plans to bring back any other classes in the initial release”.

Why not the Necromancer???

The Diablo 3 dudes simply said the class was “simply a victim of his own success. He was just too well crafted as a character, something that Wilson’s Blizzard design cohorts, current and former, likely don’t mind hearing.”

Duh?!?

I’m sure a lot of fellow Diablo fans would have a word or two to say to you guys…

Crank up the coffee pot. The Diablo 3 dev team will need it. There’s gonna be a lot of whiners on the boards and the blogs.

    OMFGWTFBBQLOL. minus the LOL, this isn’t funny…

    the necro owns! its not only a well crafted character in that game, but its a cult classic in mostly every game. who doesn’t want to have the chance to conjure up minions to do you bidding?

    d2… main char: necromancer
    guild wars… main char: necromancer
    wow… main char: warlock (sort of necro :P )
    vanguard… main char: necromancer

    i absolutely love being one. WHY, blizzard?!?!

    oh well, there’s always Starcraft 2… they also got rid of something cool also… FIREBAT. dont get be started :P

    I’m starting to hate Diablo 3, unbelievable as it may seem. I just hope they have something better up in their sleeves.

    But damn, no sorc? I still can’t believe it.

    Characters from Diablo 1 returned to Diablo 2 as the enemy, ergo Blood Raven = Rogue, The Summoner = Mage, Diablo = Warrior so the return of the Barbarian is a break from this.

    And well the Necro HAS to be removed. It’s so balanced and well thought of that they could put it AS IS into Diablo 3 but that would generally ruin the experience.

    i was hoping there would be the nerco or the druid but it sucks there wont be i hope the witch doctor will be good or the game wont do as well but what i would like too see is a night elf if they add him it would be awesome he would have duel wield weapons and a bow another thing i think they should improve is the mercenaries they just suck in the second one

    i think that that the mage in the game should have some of the moves the sorc did in d2 like the ice orb and keep blizzard the same

    Dude…Necromancers extremely sucked in Diablo 2… Do you guys want the class simply because you want to be dark, EMO and role-play as one??? And I am guessing you want the Assassin class back as well? Well, they sucked too. PvE and PvP.

    Seriously, Necromancers in D2 are mostly PvE based…. They aren’t very good at PvP. The Amazon and the Sorceress are the ones who are mostly being used.

    I am glad they aren’t bringing back that crappy class\.

    oh c’mon, necromancers good but as waht the other guy said we’re fightin’ for good not with the evil necro who raises evil minions, but i do admire his magics, it’s just that jay wilson wanted it that way anyway…good luck with the game dude!!

    hm… that sucks…tho I suppose some variety is never bad… but I loved the druid I mean who wouldn’t love running around a s a werewolf and slashing peoples faces off…I’m kinda pissed that they kept the Barbarian tho he was always my least favorite character… the necromancer was awesome to but I was never really great when I used him dunno why… I hope that the which doctor has some spells to shape-shift or something…

    pro necro is unkillable by all but paladin
    ws others duel can last forever, he may not kill enemy either but his blink + wall + armor never gets ‘im down, only sorc has chance wit her bloody hydra, but she’s easiest to kill) so >;D watch youtoob
    n DIII would still suck no matter if they put necc ther, why would anieone need DIII if we have DIIGoW,which never gets old/boring same as dsloa,
