[Movies] The Mist

I had a great weekend. Last Saturday was spent with friends doing modeling. I finished up on my new Gundam Tieren Ground type and my buddies also did a couple of Gundams and an Aliens APC kit which Alex got for a bargain at the Toycon event.

After that, we spent some glorious fraggin’ sessions over at the local Internet cafe. Before calling it a day, I watched this cool movie called The Mist. It’s from the master of terror, Stephen King. I won’t spoil it for you. Just watch the trailer (after the jump) and then go get yourself a copy of the movie.

You won’t be disappointed.

    Well, at first I thought it would suck (saw the commercial at Star Movies) but one time I tried to watch it. The ending was both good and bad. Good – it was surprising and had a very twisted mix in it. Bad – it shows how fear affects the human psyche and makes you think if you should do anything at all to solve a problem or should you stay put and wait for someone else to come and help you.

    The main reason they get there – the basic human nature of surviving at all costs – is literally thrown away at the ending. That’s the single reason why the ending sucks so bad in my opinion.

    If you find the ending to be deeply appalling, Id say thats a lil obtuse par human platitude.
    It may be an extremely odious decision for the main character.. then again, what would you do if you are faced with such a dilemma? Allow yourself to witness the slow harrowing death of your love ones, being eaten alive? or…
    Reality Check!
    You can’t say “oh thats stupid, the cavalry is just a few minutes away..”
    Yeah, like he has the ability to foresee!
    I believe that a sense of astuteness will be of great help in such dire situations, though you will still lose in the end. As the saying goes.. “Go down in flames, just like jesse james”
