Make Ragnarok Work With Vista

I’ve been getting a lot of comments and even e-mails on how to make Philippine Ragnarok Online work with Microsoft Vista

Good thing Master Diwa posted the instructions on his blog. Special thanks also goes to Nicole who did the original post at the Ragnaboards.

It’s actually easy… let’s start shall we?

Hi! I was able to figure out how to make Ragnarok Online work with Vista. For more details, you can go and read this forum:

Here is how I did it:

I turned off the UAC (sorry, didn’t see the former posts) and got an idea on how to run RO on Vista (from a site about Trickster Online). Make sure that your Vista copy is genuine The following steps below won’t work if your Vista OS is pirated or a copy:

Step-by-step instructions after the jump

HOW TO VISTA-PROOF YOUR RO CLIENT

1. Locate your profile folder
* Click the ‘Start’ button.
* Type “C:/Users/” and hit enter and a window should pop up with a list of folders.
* Find the one with the same name as your Windows username and double-click it.
* You should now see a list of all your personal folders: Desktop, Pictures, Documents, Favorites, things like that.

2. Locate the profile data for Ragnarok Online.
* You need the AppData folder (which is hidden by default), so, click on the location bar at the top (it should say something like : Local Disk (C:) > Users > (your user name). Click in the blank space between that and the little down arrow.
* It should change into a normal textbox with the contents highlighted. Click in the blank space again to unhighlight everything.
* Now type or copy and paste: \appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\ragnarok online
* Hit enter.

3. Install Ragnarok online on the above location.
* If you are logged in as an account without administrator rights, and if it says something about permission, just click ‘continue’ or allow.

4. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF “USER ACCOUNT CONTROL” FIRST before patching!

5. Start RO normally!

* If your Windows crashes, just restart your computer/laptop. That happened to me, but when I restarted, everything functioned normally.

Simple way to turn off your User Account Control - but make sure that you’re the Administrator. I don’t think you can modify the settings if you’re not the Admin:

1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. Look for User Accounts. A new window will pop up.
4. Look for “Turn User Account Control on or off” and click on that. A new window will pop up.
5. Remove the checkmark on “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
6. Click OK.
7. A window will pop up and will ask you to restart your computer.
8. Restart your computer.

    hehe, di naman ako nagka problema installing pRO on my Vista OS. I just copied the whole Ragnarok Online folder into my Flashdrive and pasted it directly into my Vista @_@. that’s it.

    I heartily agree with Blackwolf.

    I was able to make RO work with Vista because of this post but so many things in Vista are so counter-intuitive! Next time M$ should use non-techies as ease of use testers. @_@

    Error: Game Guard

    Solution: Just turn off your User Account Control

    Start> Control Panel> User Accounts> Then Turn Off the UAC

    wahh help dami ko problem sa PRO valkyrie ko…

    1.) when i login sa mylevelup di ako makalogin di ko 2loy makua pasword ng ragnarok ko..

    2.) try ko din may forgot password baka kc nakalimutan ko lang password ko.. pero.. di gumagana ung forgot password ng mylevelup sakin.. it bring back you lang..

    3.) pag naglologin ako sa mylevelup sabi your encrypt is not updated.. plzz reinstall rencypt..
    di ko naman alaman kung saan dodownload un.. hayzz

    4.) nag patch ako ng valkyrie.. patch is finish normaly and start game.. pagka startgame ko naglogin ako normaly.. and nakalogin ako.. den diba lalabas un like this ( valkyrie(3750) )
    click ko un tapos next diba sa character select ka na.. di na umaabot saakin dun.. pagpasok ko.. di ko na nasisilayan ung select character… then freez na.. not responding na.. i try again but pauletulet talaga…

    5.) di ako nag reklamo kc sa costomer service di ako makapag send ng ticket… error lumalabas pag nagsesend ako

    (i feel so embarasing na grrrrr… )

    uhm..ask ko lang po… pag nagpapatch kasi ako ng valhalla sa vista ok naman..pero pag naglolog-in ako nakasabe na “Failed to connect to te server.” Help po..paano po yun? Dati ko pa gusto maglaro sa yaptop ko. >_

    gmtristan, i hope you can help me. I downloaded Valhalla already and everything works fine until i click on the Valhalla Icon and the game start button and other stuffs are missing on the Patch Client. It’s driving me nuts, I can’t figure it out. I hope you can help me. Thanks

    i can enter the login phase..but when i enter the game it says 100% but stops loading there and freezes

    any solution?

    GM..my OS is also windows vista..at first, when i started patching up, it says that it cannot find valexe.exe..but when i reinstalled the CD, thank God it worked!
    BUT..here’s my problem now..I already finished the patch..but when i already click “GAME START”, RO doesnt work anymore.. An “ERROR” flashes in my screen..i already followed some suggestions (e.g turning off the UAC) but it still didnt work..help me please GM.. (T_T)
