Laoag: Level Up Game Day at the Northern Gateway

February 18, 2008 · Filed Under Level Up, MMORPG News, Contests, Perfect World, RF Online, Events, Marketing

I, together with the RF Online and Perfect World teams, went to Laoag, Ilocos Norte last Friday, Feb 15 for an official event scheduled for Saturday, Feb 16. This is in line with their annual Pamulinawen week-long festival.

The 11-hour land trip began at the LU HQ at noon of Friday. I was with RF Brand Manager Keith Morales, RF CM Cydie, RF GM Janrey, the lovely and ever-dependable Joie BLevel Up Events Manager and PW Community Manager Erick Ureta. We arrived there at around midnight just in time to check-in, have last minute checklists and some idle banter.

It’s my first time here at Laoag. Aside from managing and running the RF skirmish event and the Perfect World “Perfect Match” contest, I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting the warm and kind players of this city and its equally hospitable inhabitants. Me and the Level Up team had a blast and I’m sure Laoag won’t be seeing the last of us and our games.

More details and a photo-essay after the jump…

The event was held at the very center of the town plaza, overlooking the great provincial capitol building and surrounded by picturesque old-Spanish churches and buildings. Our event set-up was 40 PCs, thanks in part to our sponsors; Megabucks, Eskuela Café and Equilibrium café.

Hundreds of RF and PW players trooped to the event. For the RF skirmish, we had a total of 16 teams who registered for the tournament. Some players were even there very early in the morning waiting for us. I am also told that a few came from nearby provinces such as Vigan. In behalf of the LU team that was with me at Laoag, I thank all of you for the warm welcome and support for the event and our games.

Meanwhile, Team Bords (Cora) won the championship for the RF Skirmish tournament besting all others equally representing the other races. Congrats dudes! Capping the event is a mini-concert by bands who were the winners of the “Bandang Sikat sa Ilocandia” band contest.

Before I leave you with the Photo Essay below, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Franz Felipe and family, and the office of the Mayor of Laoag City for the invitation and all-out support for Level Up and our entourage. Props to you, sir!

We’ll be back!

The actual event tent. Throngs of players are already mobbing the registration area even while we were still doing last minute preps early in the morning.

It’s night now. The crowds still won’t stop playing! Woot!

The bands rock the event by night!

I’ll be posting more photos and will blog about our side-trip to Fort Ilocandia ASAP.

Cheers,

GM T
