kRO Announces Ragnarok Online 3rd Job Class
Great news! The world of Rune Midgard will never be the same.
kRO has just announced the names of the new 3rd Job Classes for Ragnarok Online. According to Doddler: “You must be level 99 in order to change into third class. You can change as either 99 base class, or 99 trans class. The primary advantage of going transcendent before becoming third class is that you of course have access to the advanced skills that trans classes offer.”
This is exciting news. It means that there’s still life after 99 Transcendent… I can’t wait.
Check out the names of the 3rd Job Classes after the break plus some unofficial notes on what some classes can do.
Here are the names of the new Ragnarok 3rd Job Classes:
Rune Knight (Changes from Knight, Lord Knight)
Warlock (Changes from Wizard, High Wizard)
Ranger (Changes from Hunter, Sniper)
Arc Bishop (Changes from Priest, High Priest)
Guillotine Cross (Changes from Assassin, Assassin Cross)
Mechanic (Changes from Black Smith, White Smith)
Royal Guard (Changes from Crusader, Paladin)
Shura (Changes from Monk, Champion)
Sorcerer (Changes from Sage, Professor)
Dark Chaser (Changes from Rogue, Chaser)
Generic (Changes from Alchemist, Creator)
Minstrel (Changes from Bard, Clown)
Wanderer (Changes from Dancer, Gypsy)
Finally, here are some UNOFFICIAL abilities of some of the classes from Ragnarok Guide
Priest –> Archbishop
Males appear like those serious members of the clergy. Females look like the pope in the Rachel temple.
- Improved existing supportive skills.
- Many new anti-Demon/Undead skills will be added. However selecting them will reduce the effectiveness or lose out on some of the supportive skills.
- Added skills that allows Archbishop to do physical melee damage.
Assassin –> Guillotine Cross
The Guillotine Cross looks like Loki. Armors are made of bones and sharp tusks.
- There is a DPS (Damage per second) which is very strong but when the skill fail, there will be consequences.
- Many different types of poison will be added. In addition, it will be armed with new skills using poisons.
Blacksmith –> Mechanic
The Mechanic is the job of 3rd Blacksmith. The mechanic’s sprite has only one garment.
- They can create more new weapons. They can now create auto-attack items for the transcendent.
- Improved skills using items rather than direct physical battle.

Holy Molepolole… I’m so glad I quit. Leveling to 99 three times over for ONE CHARACTER is simply insane. Just to get more powers and a new change of clothes. Can you imagine doing this for 2, 3 or 10 characters?

kewl ! its about time stalkers are given recognition.. i hope this advancement in ro1 would balance things.. i do hope everything is neutralized .. ryt now, it seems that assasins are the only characters in pro who have the ryt to dominate.. just a point of view.. ^^ by the way id like to propose to you guys to bring back the backstab skill as spammable hehe.. pls pls pls pretty please ! ^_^

Wow Blackwolf, READ before posting. When you hit 99 you can do 3rd class. and you won’t go back to 1, that is only for transcendant. So yeah.. Im interested in these new classes for sprites/skills and etc.. Gonna be smexy.

Toby, where specificity is concerned with leveling, whether it is to level to 99 once, twice, or thrice, it doesn’t matter. That sounds insane and not at all fun to me. You can mince words and argue details but it’s all the same. It’s too much work for me, as far as I’m concerned.
Perhaps it’s fun for you. If that’s what you enjoy, go ahead. Good for you. There’s nothing wrong with it, as long as you’re enjoying it.
I play Guild Wars. I can change my clothes, my class and my skills any time the mood suits me. I never had to work even half as hard to get to max level. I don’t need to pay a kafra to teleport me - I can do that on my own. If I don’t want to play with human players, I can bring my own henchmen and heroes, and most of the time, they’re better than other humans. And I’ve never had to pay a monthly fee since I started.
I’ll always have fond memories of RO but I want other things in a game. To each his own.

To be honest, if things were different, I would’ve continued playing RO. I remember when Chaos was the only server.
Sayang though, they should’ve given more classes for Gunslinger and Ninja. I almost went back to RO because of those two.

Hey.. I read that these “3rd” jobs are typically not for the re-birth characters..
Example, for a priest, either you go on as an arch bishop or re-birth as a high priest..
They said that these new characters options are given to those who doesn’t want to go thru the rebirth phase..
These characters were said to be updated at the episode entitled: “The New World” This episode is said to open up a new world where there are factions between the avatars (a war among the neutrals, 3rd jobs and the re-births!?) and the destruction of Morroc, by a very difficult MVP Boss Satan Morroc..
Gravity also said that they would be extending the max level from 99 to 150..
All these implementations are said to be on the first half of 2008, for the alternative jobs’ 3rd classes, around the second half of 2008..

I was and always will be a fan of the mmorpg..
its just sad that this episode was said to be the introduction for RO2..
I can’t wait to get my game on and see who wins when an arc bishop whacks his staff at a high priest get it on at PvP..
I also read that there would be a new type of stat points especially for the rune knights, they’ll be designated Rune Points? A kind of replacement for Magic Points, dunno, but gravity keeps people curious with their sall tidbits of info for this update..:)

trancendent first before
becoming a 3rd job.
some should not just jump in their job
from base job to 3rd job.
its better if all of us are trancendent
before becoming 3rd job. to become fair to others
that gave their hard work to become a trancendent.

Ryuga. The advantages for a trans class is that you guys have the trans skills.. Those who changes to 3rd from non-trans 99 doesn’t get thet rans skills. Which could break many builds people are using.

@ryuga hideki: I know its like this. Like I said from my previous post, second job characters will be given a choice: be rebirth to their trancendent class or proceed as a third class. Only second job PCs are allowed to proceed to third class. I think that’s the reason why there’s gonna be factions once these jobs are implemented, to see whether those who are blessed by the gods(rebirth) are better than those who have persevered their skills(third jobs).
Here’s a quote from the Gravity Festival that took place last year, September 2007:
“The 3rd job occupations are changed to from 2nd class. A character that elects to become 3rd occupation cannot transcend, and transcend characters cannot become 3rd occupation. However, there will still be advantages to chosing to transcend instead of becomming 3rd occupation, although that is not described in the slides. 3-1 and 3-2 classes are planned for release late in the first half of 2008.”
I hope this clears everything out with people confused with the new jobs. Okay? Now that the trans class would gain more skill points to fill their skill trees isn’t bad to balance the new skills of the third jobs. And words’ out that few skills will also be added to the trans class, so stop crying okay?!
Game update: NPCs that are moving will also be implemented. Probably the valkyrie angels will be showing up all throughout the continent to check-up on things. Now, you’ll be chasing a quest NPC before you start the actual quest.
Morroc will serve as a gate to a new world, parallel to that or Rune Midgard, where there is currently a war for power. So enter the recuitment agencies, enter the third jobs.
Some skill updates:
@Warlocks: They can now team-up with other warlocks and cast group AoE spells. (Now how about a LoV that covers the whole screen?) Warlocks are going to focus on their spiritual spells, so soulstrike won’t be just another last resort. And if that’s not enough, new poison spells are to be studied by those who wish to be warlocks. (Well, there goes the balance of spells..)
@Mechanics: They will be “building” long-ranged turrets to go shot-crazy at any enemy within its range. (Keep ‘em shooting boys!)
@Rangers: Now, you’ll get to have your personal hunting dog with you. Word IS (unofficial) that wolves are now man’s best friend. It wasn’t clear whether these wolves are to be caught as pets or be fetched from the Kafras or the Ranger’s guild. Its also not clear whether these new hunting buddies will also serve as a transportation units. (Now let’s see if there’s gonna be an annual race for pecopecos, grand pecos and wolves. It would be fun if Mechanics would be able to build cars, since there’s Einbrooch. Ride them rangers!)
@Guillotine Cross: Read the manhwa lately? Check out Loki and see that he’s actually a guillotine cross. (Check out the inverted cross on Loki, whose points on the horizontal are pointed, is actually the insigna of the guillotine cross) In that case, we could be looking at the spell “Cosmic Energy” being used at the PvPs, since Loki uses that skill.
@Rune Knights: Rune points are now going to replace your magic/mana points for your new skills. Your skills are also going to focus on the offensive. (Perhaps your swords are getting blunt from overkilling porings. Rust is your enemy, not the porings.)
@Arch Bishops: Pretty much what GM Tristan posted. Now your more of a battle priest with all your new melee skills. (So start saving up on your wooden staves, who knows when the’ll be breaking from all that zombie-smacking.)

How come bot players are never banned? hmmm and How came their number is increasing? they’re causing to much LAG on Ragnarok, especially on Valkyrie Server.. hmmm… please GM the MAN! hehehe… Ok lang sana kung BOT ang character e pwede i PK ng ibang character in Any Map.. kahit sa City hehehe!! sana ganun na lang! tapos may EXP pa kami by killing Bots :3 lolz.. /gg

@zeusIMhot: Yeah, those “players” are contributing to the lag of the servers. I attended this convention last year on how the Ragnarok Online servers deliver data from the player to the database. Since there are a lot, and I do mean A LOT, of botters out there, the data traffic just becomes worse. How about us who play by the rules, right? It’s already a free-2-play server and still they continue to bot. Sigh. They’re taking the real gaming experience for granted. And with this news of up and coming update, I am certain an increase of botters is soon to follow.
If only we can home in on the IP addresses of these botters. And with the support of real world players out there, we can certainly remove these unwanted players.
From my experience, bot-PCs don’t talk much, if not at all, when you interact with them. Also, they don’t pick up the drops. They also tend to reconnect every second or so. Unless there’s a new bot program out there.

I just want to comment that if these jobs are implemented
please make it “balance”. As what I can see sinX is the no1 killer in PvP and other job is not so “strong” or cant do anything about it (so many strategies, yet not yet so useful to prevent sinX). Just my opinion.. Also the delays in pRo valkyrie server!! /heh
(Sna ung mga priest n mg 3rd job sna my offensive skill n rn pra hndi cla puro support lng- khit gnwa cla mg support dapat pwede rn lumaban ang mga “Holy Ones” hindi lng sa undeads)

Add ko lng ung “archbishop” prang battle priest n rn sa mga bgong melee skills. Kung 2nd job lng ang pwedeng mg 3rd job nakainggit nman sa mga transendent jobs. Pero ang na reserach ko ms advantage p rn ang mga transendent jobs. Sna ganun nga. Pero make it all balance.

Note: Sorry guyz, can’t seem to find the actual sprites but I’ll definitely post a link once I get them and upload them to my photobucket account. (Got the ranger, rune knight and guillotine cross’ sprites, waiting to complete the 6.) In the meantime, just imagine them with these (sorry excuse for a) descriptions.

IMO. One sign that it’s over for an MMO is when the game itself is no longer new player friendly. if you are new to the genre, why would you play RO when everyone and their mother is 300 levels higher than you?

well, im rly waiting for the third classes for return to RO =P, but gravity have a realease date for this update or nothing about dates ?
some unoficial skills of this classes can be fond in internet, like ”problable skills” of this classes, for a example.
Guillotine skill. Black shadow. its like cloacking but with perfect hiding(gm hiding effect but detectable for maya purple)but the walk speed is only 50% of normal, its oficial or is a fake skill ?
