Last Friday, July 18, we were kidding around in the Level Up HQ (which is on the 11th floor) on what time the earthquake would hit. I told them to just laugh it off since NO ONE can predict earthquakes (yet). Just to fill you in, I received a lot of text messages, YMs and even e-mails (my mom was even on it), that there would be an 8.1 magnitude earthquake that would hit the Philippines and would kill millions.

Guess what? July 18 is long gone and we’re still here.

Even Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum Jr. said that “there is no basic science” to this. In fact you can all watch the video of his interview here.

My own thoughts

• There is no machine or process (yet) that can predict the exact DATE AND TIME that an earthquake will hit
• Don’t listen to rumors about world-ending catastrpohes
• Worse, don’t even spread them via text, e-mail or YM. You’re just stooping down to the level of Viagra.
