Alright, I have to admit… the first title that came to mind was “If You Don’t Join My Blog Carnival Now, You’ll Hate Yourself Later”. Whew. That would have been a rather long perma-link URL so I opted to the more prudent and direct call to action title above.
Ok. I joined blogcarnival.com a few months ago but was not particularly active. I went back to the site and found that it has increased page hits and an even better Alexa ranking. This just means that carnivals are gaining popularity. Even the so-called gurus of blogging have written about trying carnivals to expand your blog networks and generate hits.
But you might be wondering what a blog carnival is?
According to blogcarnival.com
To understand what a blog carnival is, consider some examples. Here is the first edition of Carnival of the Vanities (one of the earliest blog carnivals). Carnivals can be very descriptive like this one, or very concise, like this one. Find the style the fits your topic and time schedule.

We think blog carnivals are a great way for bloggers to recognize each other’s efforts, organize blog posts around important topics, and improve the overall level of conversation in the blogosphere. Carnivals come in edited “editions”, just like magazines or journals. The fact that carnivals are edited (and usually annotated) collections of links lets them serve as “magazines” within the blogosphere, and carnival hosts can earn their readership by providing high quality collections.
Since blog carnivals include lots of posts on specific topics, they also serve as a place to connect with those who are expert (or at least highly opinionated!) and those who are interested in that field.
Got it? Good.
So, all you have to do to contribute a post about MMORPGs (which is the “theme” of my carnival) is to head here and follow the simple instructions. Of course, you want to register for an account first.
It really is easy. If your blog is about online games, gaming or mmorpgs, methinks it would be best if you update the carnival I set up with your posts. That way, we all gain traffic and aggregate the topics and content to the world.
