I had a great deal of fun (and practice) making the smaller AT-ST walker. This one, the AT-AT is bigger at around 8 inches tall. I’ll be able to apply the things I learned from making the AT-ST into this kit. Also, if I have the time, I might build a diorama (snow-based, of course) for this baby.
This weekend, I started the painting process. If you missed the first part (the assembly) you can click here…

Work In Progress for Star Wars AT-AT by GM Tristan
After the assembly, I primed everything with Ace primer, my favorite primer. After that, it was time to highlight dark areas such as the underbelly and joints with a coating of Tamiya Flat Black via the airbrush. Here are some photos below…
Once that dried, it’s time to apply Tamiya Sky Grey to everything…
I also needed to paint in a darker panel section. First, I applied some masking tape and then airbrushed Tamiya Neutral Grey…
Once everything dried, it’s time to apply 2 thin coats of “Future” (Wipe and Shine) to every part. This is to prepare it for the “washing” and the weathering. The Future will allow for a smoother finish and will make the enamel paint glide and coat the parts evenly.
That’s it for this update. Check out my Facebook for the photos. Also, be my fan on Facebook (if you’re still not one) to get updates on model kits, toys, gaming and more!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
