I purchased this kit last June. But due to two things 1) busy with work and 2) had to finish other kits, I shelved the project. Now that I’m done with the Sazabi (a common build project with DaemonFrost… which we haven’t uploaded any post yet) but you can find status photos in my facebook album,) methinks I know have time to blow the dust off the Star Destroyer box.
ACCURIZING
The thing is, this kit (from AMT ERTL) doesn’t have a lot of detail. That means that one must “accurize” it by adding hundreds of little strips of styrene (plastic) to the kit.
Since styrene (the official one) is costly, I’ll have to improvise. Old calling cards, top-up cards or cellphone load cards are made up of the same, friggin’ material. So, I used that instead. Also, I used part of the blister packaging from a cellphone. What you do is cut ‘em up into strips and then into small, manageable parts. You then (painstakingly) glue them ONE by ONE to the kit.
I continued doing it for the lower half of the hull. I’ll have to add more smaller pieces to the top hull…

I also glued the first level of the deck and attached rubber bands. This will dry and the bond will strengthen overnight.

The next part of the project is to finish up on detailing/accurizing and then it’s off to Recto possibly to find fiber-optic strands. I plan to light up the entire kit with LED lights and fiber optic cables.
That will be fun!
Until the next update… May the Force be with you!
