Around 6 weeks into the project. Had to shelf it for some time due to work (uber-busy).
Now that the Christmas break’s here, I have more time for the mod.
The first update was about prepping the carbonite block and test-fitting the converted 12″ Han Solo vinyl kit. The second update was getting the hands and the torso ready before sealing it in. Now, the thing is ready for the “carbonite slush”.
Han Solo in Carbonite Mod Project (Update # 3)
I had to do several levels before the entire Carbonite “slush” was complete. The first one was simply white glue (Elmer’s) to fix the plastic model to the base board. That required around a week to completely dry. The second was one half of Plaster of Paris (initial layer). Again, another week to completely dry. A couple of days ago, I applied the final layer to top-up the entire ‘carbonite’ into the kit. Maybe a couple of days and this will be dry.
Here are some photos of the finished carbonite layer.
(Below): For hard core Star Wars fans, you might see here that Han Solo is not squinting. That’s because the base figure does not. Oh well, I guess this will have to do. Only true-blooded Star Wars fans (like mwah hehe) will notice it anyway.
Since I couldn’t find spare plastic parts that resembled an air-vent, I had to scratch build it from styrene (a couple of old credit cards) and super glue (Below)
This was then attached to the top of the model

The final stage of this project would be my favorite part, priming, painting and detailing. I guess a couple more weeks and I’m done. In case you missed it, check out the updates previous to this post
