GM Tristan with HappySlip

First, a million thanks to officemate/friend JC Medina for inviting for the special “Meet and Greet” event with Christine “HappySlip” Gambito, world reknowed youtube videoblogger. The event was held last Thursday lunch at Mag:Net, The Fort. I told you I was hatching a plan to meet her, right?

Sponsored by yehey.com, a lot of bloggers went to the event to listen to HappySlip and of course, to meet her, chat and share notes. I even bumped into Mike Abundo and other pinoy bloggers while I was there.

Happyslip shared her stories about coming here to the Philippines for the first time, meeting new friends, video documenting her jeepney ride and her love of Sinigang, among others.

Had a blast at the event. Here are more photos.

Her trip here is made possible by the Department of Tourism. She has more than 4 million views on her youtube channel. Whoa!

Tasty-lookin’ treat, she is. I first saw her vids early last year. Thought it was mildly entertaining – she does try and she keeps it honest. I guess that’s what made her a hit – she’s not some pre-fab, manufactured comedienne; she seems to be the real thing.

When Will Ferrel does stuff on YouTube, you can see the skill and Hollywood posh that comes with it. HappySlip is closer to the homegrown style of YouTube.
