It’s been awhile since I last posted new entries for Gamer Babe. I’ve been rather busy lately and didn’t have much time to scout around for the perfect candidates. But I think the search is over.

This month’s feature is Pam, one of my officemates. She’s with the New Media department. Pam’s always bright, cheerful and has been my diligent “Padawan” when it comes to “pang-aalaska”. Anyways, I always like being around Pam, she always has great ideas and I can confide with her whenever I have to rant about stuff.

Pam’s one those loyal LU peeps who’ve been with us through thick and thin. Let’s head over to the interview, shall we?

GM T: Tell me something about yourself?

PAM: Ok I’ll admit it I’m 34 years old … although I don’t look it. Professionally, I have a heavy media and marketing background so I have dealt with the blue collar up to the rock stars, artistas and their yayas!

I’m into music and tattoos, so far I only have 1 tattoo but I plan to have another 1 hopefully by the end of the year. I sometimes host events and voice commercials. Would you believe that I voiced an AVP for a breast enlargement program? I’ve also been a talent for a recording company for some videokes. Have you seen the videoke of the song Bulaklak by Kuh Ledesma? Yeah, that would be me pickin’ the suntan off the shrubs. I’ve also been a hair double, only my hair was good enough to show .. aaaawwww…

GM T: Waw! Dami mo pala secwets! How did you get into gaming and online gaming?

PAM: I’ve always been a gamer, I don’t just look it. When I was younger, I had an Atari (I told you I was 34!) so I played Space Invaders and all the other Atari games. I went through almost every gaming platform (of my era ) I even have memories of owning several units of the Game n’ Watch, the Popeye game being my favorite which was weird since I didn’t like watching Popeye cartoons at the time. I stopped playing games at the Family computer stage so I never experienced the Playstation, Xbox etc. The first time I saw Ragnarok, I wanted to try it but I think I was in my late 20s at the time so I was kindda embarrassed to be a newbie in a sea of high level (and a lot younger) players. I got back into gaming primarily because of Level Up. It was part of the job description and then I got hooked! I am now into MMOGs, my boyfriend’s PSP and my Nintendo DS which I carry with me where ever I go.

GM T: Era ko rin yun. Shhhh. What online games do you play? Why do you like it?

PAM: I started with ROSE Online, after that it was FLYFF. Right now, I am trying to level up my YuLing character Ding Hao in PW. I liked these games coz they were easy to play and it’s just a great way to release stress! I just imagine the face of the person who irritates me on the monster I’m killing and just go for it! It’s very fulfilling! It’s the next best thing to actually killing the person!

GM T: Kinda violent there, hehe. What’s the best reason that you got into MMORPGs?

PAM: I’m not into casual games because I get bored easily. I want to get lost in an MMOGs story line and scenery! It really is a form of escape from the real world!

GM T: Really? But you seem to like the “Hidden Objects” games that I lend you. Anyways, what do your non-gamer female friends tell you when they find out that you game?

PAM: They don’t really believe that I play video games! They say that I don’t have that “look”. I didn’t know that gamers even had a “look”! They have always known me to be a girly-girl, a make-up maven and shopper extraordinaire … but they would have in their wildest dreams peg me as a gamer?
GM T: Hmmm… maybe when they come up with a shopping MMORPG, I’m sure you’ll be the top player. Btw, what’s your most unforgettable moment ingame?

PAM: I was showing a Client the game ROSE Online (May the Goddess Arua rest in Peace!) telling her how it was wholesome that nobody really cursed anyone inside the game etc and then all of a sudden this male character comes up to me and PMs me “Ate, sex tayo dun sa damuhan!” (Let’s have sex in the grassy knoll) Uhg, so much for being wholesome!
GM T: Do you have any advice or tips for girls out there who want to try gaming?

PAM: Just go for it! Dont be embarrassed about not knowing how to play! Learning the game is part of the FUN!
GM T: Final words for your friends, guildmates or fans?

PAM: Pahingi ng items at gold sa PW!
