Gamer Babe Issai

Fellow blogger, gamer, and friend Issai carved out her spot in the cyberworld via her blog – ladygadfly.com

Although hesitant, I finally convinced her to give out a Gamer Babe interview. Here, Issai tells us how she got into gaming, what games she likes and a little bit about herself, of course. Her blog covers anything that strikes her fancy. Including giving away original PS2 games to buying her own car.

She’s currently based in the States (California).

Her complete interview after the jump.

GM T: Tell me something about yourself?
Issai: I’m a software engineer in San Francisco, CA. I’m a proud mother of a 5 year old boy. I love old-school anime, I sometimes sketch a little. I am also a fan of cosplayers, Alodia is an awesome example of a brilliant cosplayer. I love music, although I don’t have much time to practice playing the guitar and keyboards, I still try. And I love sushi.

GM T: How did you get into gaming and online gaming?

Issai: In highschool, I picked up the PS. I loved Tekken 3 so much that it was hard for me to get rid of my PS. I’m also a gamer when I was in college. Since Los Banos is a small town, there’s not much to do except hangout in a computer shop or at a bar. I prefer the computer shop. I can still remember spending 7 hrs playing Red Alert 3 when I first laid my hands on it. During college, I played games out of boredom. Now that I’m working, it’s for stress relief.

GM T: What online games do you play? Why do you like it?

Issai: I only play WOW since I only have time for one game. I love it because it doesn’t crash on Windows Vista. I can’t even install Diablo II or Warcraft III on this machine without editing the registry. So, when all was said and done, only WOW worked. Hellgate London worked but it has all these random crashes and bugs. Bugs in games are always a no no for me.

GM T: What’s the best reason that you got into MMORPGs?

Issai: I was playing console games before I did MMORPGs. I loved playing with the PS2, but I had to let it go eventually. I was preaching to my boyfriend how awesome Warcraft III was. So we got Warcraft III, it was a disappointment for him. We can’t even install it like I said. Then we got WOW, and that started it. To answer your question in short, it was by accident that we got into it.

GM T: What do your non-gamer female friends tell you when they find out that you game?

Issai: Nothing really, they know me too well.

GM T: What’s your most unforgettable moment ingame?

Issai: I don’t really know. It seems like I just enjoy every moment of it or trying to keep my eyes open because I had to walk for 30 minutes to find monsters to kill for my quest. Maybe that’s unforgettable.

GM T: Do you have any advice or tips for girls out there who want to try gaming?

Issai: Go for it. It’s a level playing field for men and women. And besides, girls have a better hand-eye coordination. Don’t quote me on that, I’m not trying to be sexist here.

GM T: Final words for your friends, guildmates or fans?

Issai: Friends? Play responsibly. To guildmates, I don’t have any. Fans? I don’t really have any. LOL.

GM T’S “SHORTS”
Favorite Job: Spellcaster
Favorite Skill: Polymorph, I like sheeps.
Favorite Monster: I still haven’t seen the hardcore monsters, I usually reset my characters after the games seems to slow down. I’m very impatient.
Favorite map or area: Kalimdor.
Favorite Weapon: I’m usually a spell caster, that would narrow it down to a wand.
Cutest headgear for you and why? No headgear for me. But I do remember cute headgears when I was playing Gunbound, but that’s not MMORPG.
(complete the sentence) If I were the most powerful being in my gameworld I would: practice self restraint so I would not create an imbalance. Ahhh who cares about imbalance, I’ll import hellgate demons for the horde!!!
Song genre(s) you love: Rock, Metal, JRock
3 songs in your mp3 player? Cold – Static X, Fade – Staind, Whisper – Evanescence
Movies you watched recently: Beowulf, Resident Evil: Extinction, D – Wars
Books you recently read: Hellgate London Exodus, Warcraft: War of the Ancients Trilogy, books 1 (The Well of Eternity) and 2 (The Demon Soul).

Thanks for your time, Issai. More power to your career (both the real job and gaming). If I get back there to visit my folks at CA, maybe we can meet!

GM T
