Gadgets: More than just a Phone

Whew! It’s been a hectic couple of days for me. First, me and my new Brand Manager for Crazy Kart, Jeff, together with our ever-dependable guys from marketing services had to cram a lot of work to prepare for our press-launch: which we did today at the National Sports Grill in Greenbelt, Makati

Thank goodness everything went out fine. In fact, Gabby Dela Merced, the country’s top female racer (iRL) even graced the event to show her support for Crazy Kart. Anyways, I wasn’t able to get photos… but our official photographer, Michelle did! More about that (with LOTS of photos) in a separate post, ok?

Meanwhile, most of the tasks to prep for the event were done using my mobile phone. Instructions were just a text or call away. I couldn’t have done half of what could’ve been without my trusty mobile.

It seems that the mobile phone can do almost anything except do the laundry.

I remember a few years back when designers and engineers were tearing their hair trying to design the “perfect gadget”. For a few years, it seemed that the PDA was the “Eureka moment” they’ve been looking for. Sadly, the PDA is dead. Yes folks, even Palm is re-analyzing their business and are slowly phasing out their PDAs.

There’s no need to find the perfect mobile device or gadget.

You’re holding it right now… it’s your mobile phone! I remember reading an article that our CEO passed to me that said “it’s now called ‘the device formerly called the mobile phone’”

What’s the future? Let’s see…

  • Faster broadband internet for the mobile phone
  • Applications that link your SNS or web profiles to your mobile phone. Flicker and other SNS sites have already started doing this for the new Apple iPhone 3G
  • More entertainment for your phone via movies, TV and music
  • Whatever your PC can do, your phone can do
  • Advertising and spam will increase (sadly), as more and more businesses see the value of communicating products and services via this medium.

Basically, the phone will be your “life device” and chances are, you can’t leave home without it.

When was the last time you forgot your phone at home?

Did you feel that you left a big part of you at home? Did you feel “out-of-touch”… for most of us that rely on our mobile to “connect” to our families, friends and work, this is so, so, so true….

Can’t leave home without it? I’m guilty as charged, sir.

:)

PS. Birthday wishes to co-bloggers and friends

More success to your sites and here’s a toast to your health and wealth! Cheers!!!
