Events: Toycon 2008
Last Sunday, June 15, I was at the SM Megamall to do both work and leisure at the 7th Philippine Toycon 2008 event.
I was there to support the Level Up booth and also to do a soft-launch and announce the CBT for Crazy Kart, our newest online casual racing game.
Every year, the crowd continues to grow bigger and bigger - proof that toy collecting, gaming and everything “otaku” is growing at a phenomenal rate. Of course, one of the highlights of the show was Alodia Gosiengfiao, the country’s hottest cosplay babe (And yes, I did get to talk to her despite her toxic sched). I also helped the Toycon organizers by hosting the Gaming Girls competition, which was sort of a tribute to Dead Fantasy: a cool chick-slugfest that you must see. The winner, of course, was Rinoa (both in the video and in the contest).

Check out some of the toys and more photos after the jump.

A town made of Lego. Ahh! I remember my childhood days.

That’s a life-sized spidey, dude!

Toys…

Toys again…

More toys…

Alodia and yours truly.

Even his “Airness” was there to pose with me. *wink*
Too bad I was busy and I failed to get a couple of action figures to add to my office shelf. Oh crap! But nevertheless, something caught my eye and I got myself a cool story-creation card game called TaleCraft. Can’t wait to try it out with my officemates and friends.
Btw, before I go, let me just tell you (and perhaps the organizers too) that these kinds of events SHOULD really be in bigger places. The megatrade is really too small and crowded as it is. That’s my rant.
Ciao!

I like how you presented your new game at the event. You were up front about the lack of gameplay footage in the trailers, and the possible discrepancies in the Chinese version trailer.
Most Filipino marketers would have glossed over those things, hoping the audience wouldn’t notice. You don’t try to bullshit your audience. I respect that, Mon.
Thanks Mike. Check out the actual CBT footage on my video player

Damn, I didn’t know about this! I would’ve gone had I known. Sigh…
