I guess you guys have heard of the numerous Tower Defense mod (or TD) for Warcraft, right?
Well, I just found this crazy and addicting thing called Desktop Tower Defense. It’s a mini-game developed in flash that you can play in your browser.
And I must say that it REALLY is addicting. Check out the screeny below and then more about the game after the jump…
Desktop Tower Defense looks innocently simple. But it offers a vast number of possibilities. Plus, the various types of mobs, creeps and bosses will challenge you. It’s a “another more level” kind of game. The goal of the game is to survive attacks from creeps. Creeps enter from the top and from the left. You must stop them from reaching the other side or you will lose lives. You start with 20 lives, and when they are gone the game is over.
First, you choose from different difficulty settings. I suggest the easy mode if you haven’t tried any TD game before. Then it’s up to you fill the desktop with different towers as you defend the area from waves upon waves of creeps.

There are several different tower options. The cheapest is the Pellet tower. I use ‘em to make a maze and supplement them with the other towers with special abilities such as Squirt, Dart, Swarm, Frost (for slow effects) and Bash (for AOE and stun). You can upgrade these towers anytime.
Each level, or ‘wave’, contains 20 creeps (10 on easy) and they arrive every 25 or so seconds. They cannot be stopped. Your only defense is to purchase Towers to attack them. Some waves have special abilities like FAST or FLYING. Also, after every 7th wave is a BOSS wave that is especially hard to kill.
The key to victory is to construct a maze where you lure the creeps into a corridors of firepower. Check out what the mazes of the other players here.
Anwyays, enough of my gibberish details… just try out the game now and tell me your high-score ok?
Enjoy,
