Community Feedback on Ragnarok Valkyrie

The pRO team has finally decided to break the silence on “Project Valkyrie” for Philippine Ragnarok Online. I already announced this last week. In fact, Waukeen had campaigned for all Level Up bloggers to blog about it and and even upload the official teaser trailer video of the new Free-to-Play server.

So far, so good. With a slated launch this October 10, we’re getting mixed feedback about this. Feedback, if done constructive, is always welcome for us. Due to this, we can do some minor adjustments and FOCUS our efforts to giving better service to YOU, our dear customers.

This post is intended to summarize some of those inputs and hopefully as a way for me to address some concerns.

DeSquallie was among the first ones to agree to the Valkyrie concept. He said “But on a brighter note, the F2P server idea is a great way for people to get into the game without paying game time but with certain limitations.”. Thanks for this dude. We are really trying our darnest best to make the concept work. This wasn’t done overnight. A lot of thought and process was done to make the marketing plan and the product stand out.

One of the key factors for success of the product is to make the server free from bots and dupe. This is a tough assignment, mind you. Since bot-makers are always trying to be one step ahead of us, we need all the help we can get from Gravity, the developers of the game. Workingdude says to this effect; “ok yan it will bring some of players back to RO… since its free to play… pero pero pero… sana wala nga bot…” He then adds; “but the whole idea is good! at least po mas marami ulit lalaro….” Sidsawyer may have hit on technical fix to battle the bot program makers; “a new dawn for roquiters because of the bot. sana magbantay 24/7 ang mga vanguards. RO bot developers always crack that data.grf to know the ipaddress ang hexing Rag.exe to bypass gameguard wala ba kayong magandang solusyon para makontra ganitong gawain? (itago nyo ipaddress nyo nakikita sa sclientinfo.xml pag na extract ung data.grf!!)”. Alrighty! Thanks for this dude, we’ll look into it.

Meanwhile, not everyone is happy with it. Ayekah said “Well, I highly doubt that this initiative will bring back the former RO players who quit. After all, no character migration means starting yet again from scratch. If those old high-level RO players with godly items who quit before can have the willpower to leave it all behind, I doubt enticing them with a supposedly bot-free F2P server with level1 characters will do the job. “

Ayekah, the goal for the server is a “clean start”. We can’t afford to migrate characters in a world where majority of the rare stuff is for sale in the mall. That will mean a lot of imbalance in terms of economics and item control. Tell you what, since we have DIRECT CONTROL of the items for sale in this server, we can have a regular count - say GTB cards. If we only issue 100 of these and upon next maintenance the count goes to 105, then we will all know that there’s been duping or “something fishy” going on. We also want to be transparent and maybe even have player representatives look (Midgard Police) and help us in policing the server too.

Regarding Thor, we are not turning our back from it. The same settings will most likely be implemented. We are in the testing stage for this, so don’t worry.

I’m so sorry if I don’t have time to address and answer each and every comment on the Valkyrie post. Been busy (as always) trying to rush stuff and prep for the launch. We’ll be having the download instructions up soon (it’s just 5MB for those with a current pRO client).

since naman sabi nyo para sa mga para sa mga nagquit na RO player ang new server baka baka naman pwede paupload ng full client sa site nyo, i have a hard times looking for a cd client in our place, it seems all of the computer shop here in our place dont have RO. Im 80km away from the nearest Netopia branch and alot of my friend are very exicited and all of us want to try it.

Yung teleport issue is still not addressed. Malaking bagay yan lalo na sa manual players. How would you expect to level up and go after MVP monsters pag weaker ka tapos yung stronger players would just gang up on you dahil kayang kaya ka nila patayin and you dont have a way of backing out of the confrontation. -5% yun mind you.

uhm.. sa thor madami na ata magqu-quit or magmi-migrate dahil daw sa valkyrie. wala na ba kayo ibang balak gawin sa thor? masmaganda daw kasi sa valkyrie, kasi makakbili ka na ng gamit, di mo na need maghunt, tapos bot-free and free to play pa.

BTW Thor is not F2P pero pinagtyatyagaang ibot kahit na meron pang Police ekek, so expect the worst from botters, at first wala pa yan pero pag na crack na yan, and not to mention its F2P…

I just hope Thor will receive an anti-bot system before Valkryie gets it first. It could be implemented at the same time, ok by me, but it’s somewhat long overdue. Anyways, better than something than nothing

Valkyrie wont be bot free. Thor nga e hindi bot-free. May bayad na yun. Yan pa kayang free lang. Ang profits nyang server would come primarily from ROK points.

The more players/bots the more accounts that could potentially buy from the hypermart. As much as you would wanna be idealistic we must face the fact that we live in reality and reality is…..Money makes the world go round.

I suggest limiting buying of cards MVP to 1 per account per maintainance. That way everyone will get a shot, not just those filthy rich players

Smart move, considering the impending sequel. If this goes well, you could even make all of Ragnarok free once you release Ragnarok 2.

but still hmm I’m torn apart whether give up Freya of start a new life in Valkyrie X_X hmm baka inde mahirap iwanan ang 99 na hunter ko for 4 yrs! pinalvl manually for 2 yrs nyahaha!

Am excited about this I can play Ragnarok again, would you give any CD for the game installation? Downloading it would too slow…

hey, i agree with sylv3rblade, mvp cards should be limited to 1 card per account…. and also… can you change the fact that monster CANNOT drop slotted equips… it’s so boring,

In playing RO, and i have 2 goals when i’m playing…. Getting new and cool items from monster while leveling… and hoping that some cards/equips from MVP’s will be dropped.

kakabukas pa nga lang, as usual, may bot agad. nothing’s changed.

haven’t played for about 3 years na. dati super adiktus ako sa RO na yan. apat na accounts pa nga eh. each one tailored for a specific need.

but pRO got boring kasi wala na na halos makausap while leveling. it was fun before all of that crap. we had a small group in clock tower lv4 that were there 24/7, kasi ang bot namin noon tao talaga.

been playing for 2 days now and i must say the loot drop is next to nothing. paano magkaka-zeny mga players dito? sa isang daan na ant egg, isang phracon lang lumabas, napulot pa ng andre. amfufu naman. tama ba yun?! eh gamit ko knife pa lang. i guess it’s part of the game. pero nakakinis pa rin yung mga bot na hindi na sumasayad loot sa lupa. then, sawsaw pa. amfufu talaga.

1st off all.. Good day sa sa lahat..

kung 22usin e halos 3 hours p lng val. may bot n napanadar . n what the LUG doing binago nga nila ung system for what kung ganu kadali gawin un… based sa nakita q ngyn nagiiba ng ip ng server ..kung mag bot aq dun so what kung baguhin d mag edit n lng ulet.. unless the ip i change every hour . ehh ang tanung kaya b ng support ng LUG un…..N by the way GM T

KET NYO DI MA RESLOVE D DUPE PROBLEMS .. ung iba n banned n account n banned kahit walng ginagwa e naghuhula lng nmn kau e. to tell the truth..you cannot detect kung cnu meron dupe items at wala dahil hangng ngyon dupe is still alive..

Im just saying this kase di nyo ma reslove . ni resolve nga minsan den wala nah .mali p ung mga binanned hays…..tapos on that day sabhin ng support nyo permanent banned .. based sa rules nyo nung araw n un 15 days lng…tapos bigla kau nagpait ng rules.. why we player follow u kung di nyo masunod rules nyo..

un po ung 2 words na gumugulo kya di ako mka laro… “no game guard is installed in ur pc daw” sabi ko sa kanya wat da pak!!!!!!!!!!!! ang tagal patching…. 1 hour downloading…. tapos game guard error lang? haha paki aus naman poh… dami na ring reclaim sa barkadahan sites 2ngkol d2.. or paki post sakin ung url ng gameguard for valkyrie tnx!

Try uninstall and then reinstall. Also, you might want to download the latest directX drivers. If this fails, pls contact our customer support via www.levelupsupport.ph
