Efren Penaflorida – A Real Pinoy Hero

When Ondoy’s floods ravaged through the metropolis, there were scores of unsung heroes who risked their lives to save others. It’s in these moments, that I am proud to call myself a Filipino and I salute and throw all my respects to these guys. Guys such as Pfc. Venancio Ancheta, who saved 20 before drowning himself and Muelmar Magallanes, a teenager who rescued 30 before giving up his own life.

But there’s another Filipino real-life hero that will make you proud to call ourselves his “kababayan”.

This is the story of Efren Penaflorida, who himself is nominated as one of CNN’s Heroes.
