Transformers The Movie Model Kits

As a model kit enthusiast and a Transformers fan, it’s great to know that TakaraTomy recently teased two Transformers Model Kits, Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime. The frames are fully made out of metal and they are all fully posable.

What could’ve been MORE AWESOME is if they also release model kits for the first gen Transformers (TV cartoon series).

How To Make A Toy or Model Kit Base Using An Old CD

Previously, in an old post, I told you guys how you could make a basic diorama-base for your action figure toys or model kits. In that tutorial, I used an old photo-frame as the base and added in “terrain”, which comprised of glue and sand.

This tutorial is roughly similar. But this time, we’ll be using an old CD plus other easy-to-find materials that you can most likely find in your home, garage or tool bin. If not, most of the materials cost pretty cheap in DIY or hardware stores.

Shall we begin?

Model Kits: Leia 1/6 Scale Vinyl Kit

About a month ago, I started work on the Princess Leia 1:6 vinyl model kit. I decided to do this project right after finishing the Darth Vader, also in vinyl. I guess I prolly learned a thing or two on that project so I can apply it to Leia. This is my first real, flesh/human model kit and one of my frustration is doing the eyes. I don’t believe I did a fine job with the eyes on this one but as they say “practice makes perfect”.

This Princess Leia isn’t as detailed as some of the kits I found on the web (for reference) but I guess it’ll do. Btw, this is part of our sci-fi haul and I’m doing my best to finish all the kits there so I can go back to Gundams and military models.

Completed: Darth Vader 12″ Vinyl Kit

Finally completed my Darth Vader 1/6 scale vinyl model kit. This took around 2 weeks to build, clean assemble and paint. The challenge with this project was that there were around 3 to 4 “variants” of black that was used for the kit; flat black, semi-gloss, and gloss.

Blog is backkkk! After some time to pause for the migration…

Apologies for not posting often due to that. Anyways, let’s get the ball rolling with these casual and wacky shots of my new Star Wars stormtrooper action figs which arrived via Ebay recently.

There are a lot of fun, wild photos of stormtroopers online; there’s one in Facebook and a couple in Flickr too here and here.

At any rate, do check out my photos after the break. Don’t forget to share…

Japanese Custom Toy Maker Gets Jail Sentence

If you’re in Japan, DO NOT make custom toy action figures. The authorities will lock you up.

That’s what happened when Keiichi Itoh, 35, and Jun Fujita, 36 made a custom-mod figure of Kamen Rider W figure and sold it via Yahoo! Auctions last November. They sold the figure (photo above) for a nice sum of around USD 3,000.

The duo was arrested for copyright violations and await their final verdict.

Street Drifting is so cool.

What’s even more cool if these were done with 1/10 RC cars. Awesome. From Korea.

In Progress: Han Solo in Carbonite Update 3

Around 6 weeks into the project. Had to shelf it for some time due to work (uber-busy).

Now that the Christmas break’s here, I have more time for the mod.

The first update was about prepping the carbonite block and test-fitting the converted 12″ Han Solo vinyl kit. The second update was getting the hands and the torso ready before sealing it in. Now, the thing is ready for the “carbonite slush”.
