<p>Please enjoy some of the photos&#8230;</p>

<p>A couple of months ago, I purchased this awesome board game from Fantasy Flight, <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=136&amp;esem=1" target="_blank">Mansions of Madness</a>. &#8220;Mansions&#8221; is an H.P. Lovecraft (Cthulhu) themed game where you play the role of investigators. One player will be the &#8220;Keeper&#8221; to direct the story and progress the plot. It&#8217;s a great synergy of table-top RPG and boardgames and me and my buddies, love it!</p>
<p>Anyways, the boxed set came with a lot of unpainted minis. So I decided to try and paint them&#8230;.</p>
<p><span id="more-3734"></span></p>
<p><strong>Mansions of Madness Minis Painting (Characters)</strong></p>
<p>Here are some photos of the unpainted characters. They&#8217;re all high quality plastic and have passable detail.</p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3145.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3145.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3144.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3144.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p>After a primer, base color, wash, highlights and dry brushing, I came out with the finished product below&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3165.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3165.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3160.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3160.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p>Meanwhile, I tried to speed-paint the monsters by giving them a flat black base coat and more dry-brushing and some detailed effects&#8230;<br />
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3293.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3293.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3280.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3280.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3269-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3269-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_3262.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/IMG_3262.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p>Hope you liked &#8216;em!</p>
<p>I also bought the D&amp;D hack-n-slash boardgame, Wrath of Ashardalon. It also came with a ton of minis&#8230; will get me occupied for a couple of months! Wohooo!</p>
<p>Then it&#8217;s off to go back to table-top RPG gaming with a new gaming group.</p>
<p>But that&#8217;s another blog post. Lols</p>
<p>Seeya!</p>

<p>Wohooo! Long weekend. Time to catch up on my model kit projects. It&#8217;s easy to just buy action figures or statues and pop &#8216;em inside your display case at home or in the office. But to me, it becomes fulfilling when you do it yourself.</p>
<p>Anyways, this here is part of my haul of Star Wars 1:6 scale vinyl kits. I already finished <a href="http://gmtristan.com/completed-darth-vader-12-vinyl-kit/">Darth Vader</a>, <a href="http://gmtristan.com/in-progress-han-solo-in-carbonite-update-4/">Han Solo</a> and <a href="http://gmtristan.com/model-kits-leia-16-scale-vinyl-kit/">Princess Leia</a>. Both R2-D2 and this one, C3P0 will go in simple diorama which will be a nice addition to my Star Wars collection&#8230;</p>
<p><span id="more-3695"></span>After the standard assembly, I primed the kit and then attached the lead &#8220;pistons&#8221;. Detail on this kit is amazing! After the primer, I then gave it 2 coats of Gold chrome paint (RJ London can spray). Once done, it got 2 coats of clear lacquer to give it a semi-sheen. And then it&#8217;s dry brushing the chrome parts to give it added detail;<br />
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=c3po4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/c3po4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=c3p03.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/c3p03.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=c3p02.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/c3p02.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=c3p01.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/c3p01.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p>Once that was done, it was time to build the base.</p>
<p>This simple dio is just 2 pieces of CD case glued together. I dabbed some Rugby contact cement on top to give it texture and then added rocks and simple metal part from scrap. After the primer, it was sprayed flat black. I will then proceed to dry brush this once it dries&#8230;<br />
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=3pobase.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/3pobase.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p>That&#8217;s it for now. &#8216;Til next update.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t forget to share! Thanks!</p>

<p>Me and a group of friends recently had a &#8220;group buy&#8221; and ordered online for a BUNCH of vinyl model kits. I got a couple of Star Wars kits to complete my collection (Artoo and Threepio) while my other friends got their own stuff. One of them got a fine Joker vinyl kit and he asked me to model and paint it for him (since he doesn&#8217;t know how).</p>
<p>So, after 3 weeks of cutting, assembling and painting, the work is finally done.</p>
<p><span id="more-3673"></span><strong>Joker Vinyl Kit (Completed May 2011)</strong><br />
<a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker7.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/?action=view&amp;current=finaljoker1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/finaljoker1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a></p>
<p>Each was assembled separately, primered and painted with a combination of can spray paint and Tamiya acrylics via air-brush. I particularly liked the chair since I was able to experiment on how to do a &#8220;damaged leather&#8221; tone. There were a lot of time when I had to hand-paint in details and other layers.</p>
<p>Alas, I lost Joker&#8217;s revolver pistol so I had to scratch-build a new one using old plastic spare parts.</p>
<p>My only beef with this vinyl kit was that there were a lot of bubbles and imperfections, vinyl being vinyl, it was hard to repair and remove them.</p>
<p>Hope you liked it!</p>
<p>Thanks!</p>

<p>A couple of years ago, <a href="http://kotaku.com/5285082/enormous-gundam-is-done">the Japanese built this</a> 1:1 scale classic, RX-78 Gundam at Odaiba&#8217;s Shiokaze Park. This was done in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam.</p>
<p>Not to be outdone, China has erected a flimsy replica at Floraland park in Chengdu.</p>
<p>Spot the difference?</p>
<p><span id="more-3634"></span>Here&#8217;s another photo of the original life-sized Gundam</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/lifesizegundam1.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="601" /><br />
And here are close-ups of the Chinese version:</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/chinagundam3.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" /></p>
<p><img class="alignnone" src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c220/sharic/Blog/chinagundam2.jpg" alt="" width="400" height="300" /></p>
<p>Note that unlike the Japanese Gundam, the Chinese version is made up of fabric.</p>
<p>Sigh. From Apads (iPad clones) to Gundam. What will they think of copying next?</p>
