It sure was a busy weekend for me.
I was at the Ozine Fest 2008 last Sunday, April 6. Venue? SM Megamall megatrade hall. The Ozine event is all about Otaku - cosplay, anime, manga, toys and of course, online games. And we were there in full force as co-presentor.
I arrived around 3pm just in time to catch the start of the 200-entry cosplay, one of the largest (I think) in recent history. Too bad I couldn’t stay long enough to find out who won since me and my wife had to go on a dinner date and then to mass.

The launch of a new server is always welcome news. To us, on the business side, this means that we’ve created a lot of demand, and the worlds (servers) are becomming too crowded too fast. It’s a good marketing and business problem. It also goes to show who’s the better online gaming company (*snicker). That’s why we’re all excited about the launch of new servers for both Perfect World and RF Online.
For players, new servers are a good way to start. Your build sucked? Try the new world and learn from your mistakes. Want to start a new “all-star” guild? A new server is also the perfect avenue. Or, you might want to be a part of power level race since you already know where the optimized places to level are. Whatever your reasons, new servers always offer a smile.

With the success of RF’s latest patch, Crimson Dawn, the RF Marketing team and the GMs are continuing their invasion of the local MMO industry with the recent launch of the new and improved Guild Top Up Promo!
How does it work? It’s quite simple, when you top-up for RF, you can tag it to your server, race and guild. The guilds with the most top-ups will win in-game items to help them in their PVP battles at the Chip War or the ongoing NCAS (online component of the) Novus Elite Squad Tournament (NEST) 2008.

Here’s something of a public service.
A couple of days ago, a concerned RF Online player wrote an e-mail to me explaining the difficulties he is experiencing with Globe in relation to the game.
He writes;
Sir Good Mornning, let us Globe subscribers be heard. When have major disappointments when it regards playing RF Online when were connected via Globelines. I am currently subscribed with the 3MBPS plan. I have no problems whatsoever but when it comes to playing RF online boom! disconnected, backtrack, no response from server etc. etc.. can you make an entry in your blog that could help us subscribers both Globe and Level Up Games. Our Premium items like pots are just thrown away… It’s like wasting another peso just because of the connectivity issue thru Globe..

It’s my pleasure to report to you all that RF Online Crimson Dawn is a huge success and has exceeded most of our expectations.
To further promote the latest and biggest patch to RF Online, I did a video interview of our “secret weapon”, RF’s Community Manager, GM Cydie. Here, she tells you her own thoughts about Crimson Dawn and the game.

After the much needed rest and respite yesterday due to the celebration of the Edsa revolution, Level Up and the RF team is getting ready to launch its own revolution in the online game and MMORPG industry in the Philippines.
Yes, the eagerly anticipated patch of RF Online Philippines - Episode 2 part 2: Crimson Dawn is set to go online anytime today (Feb 26, 2008). We’re going to have a slightly extended downtime as we prop the servers ready and test everything before we give the thumbs up for the “New Beginning” in Novus.
I’ve also updated my youtube channel (aka GM TV) with the latest RF Online Crimson Dawn TV Ad video.

Every once in the while, some of the members of my team will think of innovative “cross-over” events. These events are, as you may have thought, quite rare since coordination between various parties, not to mention the developers, makes it doubly difficult.
Nonetheless, this new RF Online and Freestyle crossover will take advantage of the long downtime for RF this Feb 26. That’s the date that RF Online Crimson Dawn will patch and become online.
The mechanics are simple, if you’re an RF player, register a Freestyle account, make a character, level it, e-mail us and you’ll win 50 sets of elite gems for your RF character.
Props to new FS Community Manager, Toti for bugging me to approve this and doing most of the work and coordination. Of course, many thanks also to Game Manager RD, BM Hec of the Freestyle marketing team and to the RF and Game Ops teams.

I, together with the RF Online and Perfect World teams, went to Laoag, Ilocos Norte last Friday, Feb 15 for an official event scheduled for Saturday, Feb 16. This is in line with their annual Pamulinawen week-long festival.
The 11-hour land trip began at the LU HQ at noon of Friday. I was with RF Brand Manager Keith Morales, RF CM Cydie, RF GM Janrey, the lovely and ever-dependable Joie B – Level Up Events Manager and PW Community Manager Erick Ureta. We arrived there at around midnight just in time to check-in, have last minute checklists and some idle banter.
It’s my first time here at Laoag. Aside from managing and running the RF skirmish event and the Perfect World “Perfect Match” contest, I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting the warm and kind players of this city and its equally hospitable inhabitants. Me and the Level Up team had a blast and I’m sure Laoag won’t be seeing the last of us and our games.

Just arrived with the RF and PW GM team at Laoag a few minutes ago.
We’re here for an event later (yup, it’s already Saturday). It’s my first time here and I’m pretty excited to explore the city, meet new friends and get to also meet some of the Level Up gamers at this part of the north.
Our event is called “Gameday at the Northern Gateway”. I’ll be blogging about it as I go around the city and at the event area later and take more photos. This weekend is the provinces’ Pamulinawen (hope I spelled it correctly) holiday.
