Last Saturday, May 31, I was at the Robinson’s Galleria together with GM Chastity, GM Cassiel and the rest of the RO team for an exhibition match between 2008 RPC defending champions, Bozanian Beastfighter and Telios.
This is a grudge match and both were willing to set the record straight. Matira ang matibay, ika nga!
The Robinson’s event also featured raffles, a headgear contest, a cosplay presentation by the Frost Jokers led of course by RO vet and idol Master Diwa.
I had the honor of being asked to assist in commentating for the game proper between Boza and Telios. It was basically a race to 3 (or best of five). More on the match and a photo essay after the jump

This is one of our biggest announcements this year.
The 2008 Ragnarok World Championships will be hosted by us. Here. In the Philippines!
Yep. It’s official. RWC 2008 will happen at the LIVE main event on October 18 and 19.
11 Ragnarok countries will vie for the world title. Note that last year, our boys came in third with Thailand claiming the championship crown. This year, we’re playing on home ground so we should have the home-court advantage, so to speak.
Everyone here at Level Up is excited and the rush to prepare for our BIGGEST event yet goes into full gear.

There’s great news for the kingdom of Rune Midgard!
The newest expansion “pack” so to speak, for Ragnarok Philippines, the War of Emperium Second Edition (or SE) will be launching tomorrow, April 23, 2008.
WoE SE boasts of a new siege system, 10 new Agits and even a stone that spawns Guardians. Whoa! Guild and siege strategies will never be the same. This is a good time as any to revist the world of Ragnarok… and call all your old buddies, load up that old RO Account and take part is the WoE Second Ed. Soon, the RO team will be announcing the scoring system of RPC. Stay tuned for that…

Here’s some latest update from everyone’s fav anticipated MMO title, Ragnarok 2.
According to the translated script of this Japanese article, Gravity Korea announced an update last March 26, 2008 on Ragnarok Online 2.
An “Armor Reinforcement System” allows protective equipment to provide special effects, thus giving more value to equipments than normal items. Monsters are also to use a variety of skills and improved strategies when fighting. High-level characters can now go through more than newly added 100 quests.
And yes, that’s the entire translation of that short update. That’s all she wrote, ika nga. I’ll update more as news come in.

We all acknowledge talent in the community. I for one know how creative players can be. In fact, I always stressed the importance of UGC (or User Generated Content) for a game. If the content can’t actually be used for the game client, at least it creates a viral impression upon players and would-be new members of the playing population.
Take this great video, for example. Created by http://check-it.org/14/ it features awesome, new sprite animations for most of the job classes that we love for Ragnarok.

Great news! The world of Rune Midgard will never be the same.
kRO has just announced the names of the new 3rd Job Classes for Ragnarok Online. According to Doddler: “You must be level 99 in order to change into third class. You can change as either 99 base class, or 99 trans class. The primary advantage of going transcendent before becoming third class is that you of course have access to the advanced skills that trans classes offer.”
This is exciting news. It means that there’s still life after 99 Transcendent… I can’t wait.

For me, I really believe that the real strength of an online game is not the graphics or the variations of gameplay. It’s the community that truly measures a game’s success. That’s why I’m really happy whenever there are community-generated events and activities such as Master Diwa’s group’s Search for Mr. and Ms. pRO Valkyrie 2008.
It reminded me of both the times I was doing community events even before I became GM Tristan and the things I started for the Filipino online gaming community. Props to Master Diwa and the denizens of Valkyrie for this initiative! Also, thanks for choosing me as one of the official judges for the event.

First, a Happy Valentine’s to everyone.
In celebration of Cupid’s day, I thought I’d write a short piece about love, relationships and online games. It’s a fact that some couples have actually met online through a game, got engaged and got married. A good example would be the post about a marriage made in RF Online I made last year.
If it’s really destiny, then love will find ways. But let’s not forget that there are still people who are out who take advantage of the guillable and clueless. Although the MMORPG customer-base is male dominated (90%), there still are REAL females who play. But don’t let the sexy avatar or the “cute nonsense” you read in the chat window fool you. These “chicksilogs” aren’t really interested in you, it’s the gear of your character they want.
