Oh well… we have our ups and our downs. But the thought that there are still thousands upon thousands of loyal Level Up players (like you) - keeps our blood running…. I kid thee not when I say that we’re all working hard to make your gaming experience even better.
In case you missed some of the stuff here at my blog, I’ve compiled the best posts of June 2008 for your convenience.
I’ve been playing the CBT of Crazy Kart for some time now. The game is fast and fun, that much I can tell you.
I’ve also been receiving a lot of your feedback via email and thank you for all the kind words and also for reporting some of the minor bugs and errors during the CBT. There are now a lot of players inside the games and the rooms are always full. It takes a mastery of the drift, the proper “curving” and strategy on using the “weapons” that makes the game exciting, challenging and fun. There are various degrees of difficulty when it comes to maps too.
The game gurus (or the GPS guys - Game Play Specialists) have helped me do an in-game video of the actual CBT. Thanks guys, I owe you merienda. There are individual and team races but the team races are the most fun.
Our newest casual online racing game, Crazy Kart has officially begun its Closed-Beta Testing yesterday at 1:00pm. This is just a reminder for all of you who registered for the CBT to CHECK YOUR EMAIL. We already sent you your usernames and passwords as well as the link on where to download the Crazy Kart CBT client.
As per my last post, the CBT will only be from 12 noon to 12 midnight as of the moment. This is so the people from SNDA (Shanda), developers of the game, can fix the CBT during the lull. But next week, it’s probable that we can go full day 24/7 testing.
Freestyle Philippines gets a new website and a makeover using the Wordpress platform. Yep, that means that the site is a blog now with the cool functionalities and features of ermm… blogs.
Thanks to great efforts of our Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Kevin Codamon, FS BM Hector Sagrado and Community Manager Toti Alido, the site is now up and running after several weeks of tuning and tweaking. Props to all of you for another splendid job!
The news mentioned that the China operators of Freestyle are considering of getting NBA players (possibly Chinese) to be featured and/or endorse the game.
It really was a tough choice and a bitter pill to swallow.
Just last night, after thorough analysis and thought, I finally gave the green light to roll back character data of RF Philippines to the state of May 23, 2008 4am. And boy, it was a tough call.
Around that fateful time, a new and dangerous threat to RF surfaced - the Gold Dupe Hack. With this hack, a lot of unscrupulous players had BILLIONS of in-game cash and hundreds of thousands of gold. The economy was in ruins, prices of normal items skyrocketed and there was a huge excess of cash. Duping and screwed-up in-game economies are not new to us… we had to deal with them before but this one was quite alarming.
Thanks to great efforts of CCR, the developers for the game, the dupe was fixed fast. After the patch solution, I gathered the RF team to analyze the damage that was brought about by the cheat.
I’ve been on gag about this for the longest time. This project is one of the “top secret” ones that I was working on. It’s also one of the (many) reasons why I go home late from work every night.
But at long last, the information is public and I can announce to the entire world that we, Level Up, have a new game. Please all welcome CRAZY KART - the Philippines’ first online casual racing game.
I was given the honor to head marketing for this game and I have the privilege to be one of the internal beta testers and I can say that WOWWW!!! This game is really fun and engrossing. With an easy to control interface, individual and team “battle mode” and lots of funky cars, power ups and “weapons” for you to use, I am confident that Crazy Kart will go places.
Game Features and the official announcement (and more screenshots) after the jump
This is a wonderful project led by our Sales team in cooperation with the local goverment of Cebu city.
They “reclaimed” a long, plain brick wall and gathered the brightest young artists and gamers to put their creativity to work.
The result is an awesome and artistic rendition of game art, all shining with color and adorned with key values. Who says that gaming and social responsibility doesn’t mix? Check out more of the murals here
