LIVE 2008 Early Birds

The Early Birds for LIVE has always been a carnival-like tradition. Gamers camp out at the World Trade Center. The first few gamers arrived as early as 4pm on Friday, Oct 17. As part of documenting the tradition, I took a video of these loyal gamers outside of WTC.

Last year, the guys had cool stuff like a beach chair. This year, they’ve taken it to an entirely new level – a tent! Check out the video after the jump. Btw, props to all Early Birds and gamers at the line. Keep the tradition alive again next year…

RWC 2008 Tournament Official Results

Congratulations to Thailand for bagging the 2008 Ragnarok World Championship crown. Team Thailand beat Korea in an exciting finals match which went all the way to game 5, the last game. Official reports on the details of the match are posted at the Level Up site.

Meanwhile, our very own team Philippines was defeated by Indonesia to claim 3rd place. But our boys still gave it their own and swept all their previous matches going into the Final Four. We’re proud of you! It was one helluva fight.

Watch RWC 2008 Match Videos

Thanks to the efforts of our Multimedia head, Joey Alarilla and LU EIC, Kevin Codamon, we can now all watch the video archives of the official matches for the Ragnarok World Championships 2008. Great job, guys!

Hindi Ako Botter

Just wanted to share to you the video entry by Master Diwa in this year’s LIVE Film Festival. This is my favorite video, for obvious reasons. Of course, I wasn’t on the judges list. Anyways, “Hindi Ako Botter” bagged 2nd place in the filmfest.

LIVE 2008 is in the History Books

It’s finally over… all those months of blood, sweat, tears and stress. And LIVE 2008 goes into the history (and record) books as THE BIGGEST online gaming event. With over 20,000 attendees, that’s saying a lot! And this success would not have been possible without the support of OUR LOYAL LEVEL UP GAMERS. Yup, we owe it all to you. Sadly, we couldn’t have anything. Team Philippines lost in their bid to claim 3rd place.

Meanwhile, Thailand claims this year’s RWC 2008 crown – defeating powerhouse Korea 3 games to 2 in their best-of-five finals match.

Team Philippines loses to Thailand in the semis, 2-0. Thailand will advance to the Finals and will face the winner of the Korea vs. Indonesia match.

Congrats to Thailand! And thanks to team PH for giving one hell of a fight.

LIVE 2008 Updates 2

Whew! VERY busy day last night. Anyways, it’s 10:30 am and there are only 4 teams remaining for RWC. Dueling it out for the final spot later would be Team Philippines vs. Thailand and for the second part, Korea vs Indonesia.

I’ll be sharing more words later, let me just share with you some photos from yesterday.

LIVE 2008 Updates 1

It’s been a hectic couple of days for me. Sorry for not posting. First off, me and the organizing committee for LIVE were already setting up the event since Thursday, October 16. Not to mention doing countless checklists, coordinating with various coordinators, making sure that the logistics are in order and the supplies come on time.

If you really want to updated, just head on over to the LIVE STREAMING VIDEO that we’ve setup just for the event. You’ll get to see the matches in real time. I also shot hundreds of photos and I’ll be uploading it here to the blog later tonight.
