Necromancer Will Not Be in Diablo 3

August 26, 2008 · Filed Under Gaming · 8 Comments

When Blizzard unleashed one of the industry’s best kept secrets - Diablo 3, the gaming community and the web were awash with speculations on gameplay, character classes and even lore. The hype for one of the most anticipated launches in gaming history has begun… score one for Blizzard yet again.

When they featured the Kratos-look-alike Barbarian and then the awesome Witch Doctor,  a lot of Diablo fans wondered what the new Necromancer would look like.

Hate to rain on your parade, folks. But Blizzard said that ONLY the Barbarian will make a comeback among the original Diablo bunch of characters…

Get Rich Quick

August 23, 2008 · Filed Under Blogging, MMOments, Online, Gaming · 3 Comments

The title above either attracts or repels.

Let’s put this into the context of games. At first, broken games or MMORPGs that offer you a get-rich-quick scheme or a level-fast-now scheme attract players like bees to pollen. But most are doomed to fail.

The average player always sees the false value of a game where you can bot and just level up at the fastest possible time, acquire all the gold by duping and kill anyone with a single hit. Pinoys, by nature, hate the grind. Compared to our other Asian brothers, we just don’t have enough patience. We want the quick and dirty, level-me-now-to-max mentality.

On the onset, this looks like a good thing. You can bot or buy a stupid third party program and then just take a nap and watch your character get all powerful.

Yoda in Soul Calibur 4

August 18, 2008 · Filed Under Gaming · 4 Comments

Released a couple of weeks ago, Soul Calibur 4, for the PS3 and Xbox is making waves and is the first good fighting game in a while for the new, high definition consoles.

What’s even more interesting is the cast of characters (both old and new) to be included in the 4th installment of this weapon slugfest. The Star Wars characters - Yoda, Darth Vader and his apprentice are a welcome addition to the cast of fighters. Yoda, of course, is my favorite. His signature air attack moves (as seen in the movies) is faithfully replicated and combos are fun to do.

Rocksteady Games and Eidos have just announced the development of Batman Arkham Asylum for the PC. The game, which will also be released for the PS3 and the Xbox has a tentative 2009 launch date.

The initial screenshots for Arkham Asylum look promising. Note that the Joker has the Heath Ledger “look”. Meanhwile, the game runs on the Unreal Engine 3. 1Up has reported that it is played “from a third-person, over-the-shoulder view, with emphasis both on combat and detective work.”

Check out the screenies, girls…

How to defeat Lag

August 8, 2008 · Filed Under General, Infotech, Online, Gaming · 8 Comments

This is an old, original article of mine reprinted here. It was first posted at my original blogger site March 24, 2007. Am reposting it here since I just got a lot of complaints about lag and connectivity issues. I hope this will help.

Picture this:

You and your buddies just visited your local, boring NPC to stock up on pots and stuff and head out to the spot where the Boss respawns. It’s 5 minutes till the bastich appears… a few noob groups are hovering like vultures in the horizon.

Game Night at Magnet Aug 1

July 29, 2008 · Filed Under Gaming, Events · Comment

Heeya peeps! Are yah allowed to drink? If you’re already legal, then head on over to Magnet for a wild night of Guitar Hero and Rock Band this Friday, August 1.

Who says they need bands?!?

Bands!?! We don’t need no stinkin’ bands! Bring the noise and your game to Magnet Café this Friday, August 1st. We’re breaking out the plastic axes for a full night of rhythm game goodness starting 9pm. Rock out with your friends or make a few at the bar and form a supergroup for Rockband. More of soloist? No problemo. Test your chops in head to head battle with Guitar Heroes II&III. The only rule you have to pay attention to is, like any good rock god worth their salt, you gotta down a couple drinks before you make it to the mic. The more belligerent the better. Magnet Café, Bonifacio High Street (behind Nike). Call 856-3400 to make reservations.

Oh and yeah, I might be there… so I’ll be saying y’all!

E3: Final Fantasy 13 Video

July 17, 2008 · Filed Under Videos, Gaming, Events · 6 Comments

This game was first shown back in E3 2006 when Square gave us a first-look at FF13. The team for this was, according to the developers, ”focused on building a brand-new game engine, called the White Engine. This engine was developed to integrate graphics rendering, physics, cinematics, sound, and special effects.”

Meanwhile, just a couple of days back, a new trailer for one of the hottest and most-anticipated titles for the PS3 was shown at E3 2008 at Los Angeles.

I’m certainly a Final Fantasy fan and this is one of THE reasons to get a Playstation 3…

The complete trailer after the break…
