Last Saturday, at the LIVE event, I had the honor to announce and reveal our newest MMORPG offering – Bounty Hounds Online.

Bounty Hounds Online, originally a PSP game, is a sci-fi game developed by XPec and Bandai.

BHO offers great PVP combat and other awesome features as fully transformable and customizable pets, huge kick-ass weapons, massive boss opponents and a guild-based PVP combat system.

As I said during the announcement/reveal, to help me promote this game, we formed the awesome BHO girls. They manned the BHO booth at LIVE and had their pics taken by new fans. Check out some of their photos below;

We’re preparing for the beta of this game which we launch soon. In the meantime, former LU New Media chief and blogger Kiven Codamon is already giving out beta passes in his blog. Do check it out!

The company behind Bejeweled and Plants Vs. Zombies may be cashing in on its success.

The grapevine reports that Zynga, the Facebook gaming powerhouse is poised to drop 1 Billion large ones to acquire Popcap.

Techcrunch reports

The question now is who the buyer is. The obvious possibility is Zynga, which has made a string of game-related acquisitions over the last year. But we’re hearing they’re out. Our sources say that Zynga did indeed kick the tires hard on a potential acquisition, but it looks like the company couldn’t get comfortable with the price PopCap was asking for.

Popcap’s revenues are in the range of $100-150 million, we hear — and a price of over $1 billion would have put the deal at a possible 10x multiple, which may have been too rich for Zynga’s blood. So who else could it be?

Other candidates are Electronic Arts (EA) and China gaming powerhouse Tencent.

Hmmmm? Intriguing news byte…

It’s that time of year!

After the dust settled, only 8 teams are left. After the epic matches tomorrow, there will BE ONLY ONE. One left standing. And that team will be the new Team Pilipinas which will represent our country for this year’s Ragnarok World Championships. We’ve almost tasted the crown. This year could be OUR year.

If you think the “living out” conditions of embattled NBP detainee Gov. Leviste is lavish and that the poor prisoners have it up to their necks living in sqaulor, think again.

Some Chinese jail officials have turned their correctional facilities into a virtual sweat shop to farm and resell gold for World of Warcraft. OMG!

According to a detainee at a prison in Heilongjiang province:

he was habitually forced into playing MMOs likeWorld of Warcraft for the collection of loot, which the prison guards would then resell online for as much as ¥6,000 ($924) per day. Such totals would be the product of up to 300 inmates working 12-hour daily shifts, though predictably they saw none of the profits themselves. The unnamed source was at a “re-education through labor” camp where the usual toil would involve actual, rather than virtual, mining.

Score one for the official Facebook Page of Philippine Ragnarok Online. Recently, our fanpage landed at #9 among the top Brands in the Philippines in a survey by social media ranker Social Bakers. Wohoooo!

Our sister company, Smart leads the pack with over a million “likers”. Ragnarok, as of this writing, has around 232,000++ fans.

And yes, we’re the only Online Game in the top 10. Yey!

Seems like our marketing, social media and web teams are doing something good… and something right.

But do you know that you can run a REAL farm online? You heard me right. Britain’s National Trust has established MyFarm, in which “A real estate in Cambridgeshire, England has been set aside to be “run” by 10,000 “farmers”, who each month will determine via voting what gets built, which crops are sown, basically anything and everything to do with running a real, functional farm.”
